iPhone 5 in SA: early adopter pricing

Those prices are just ridiculous for a phone ... at R 13K for the top model it's more expensive than a laptop from Apple.

The way the Rand is losing value at the moment, these prices are just a taste of what is to come.

Crazy. I can't see myself spending so much for a phone. I sold a VW Fox for that amount around 2 years ago and there was nothing wrong with the car!

No offense, but VW is pretty rubbish and a VW Fox is even worse.
I personally don't think R13k is much for a phone, but I understand why some segments of the population would not be able to afford it. But I don't see anything wrong with that

lol. I'm sorry but only an Apple fanboy would bother paying 13k for a phone that is bringing about technology that has been available for some time and at cheaper prices. Just because you can afford something doesn't mean you should be silly about it and buy the ridiculously over-priced item.

Anyway, people have been buying the unlocked version from the states at around R5500, so it would be pretty stupid to by the phone for those prices; even if you are desperate

Not a f uck would this fanboy be paying that for an iPhone 5!!!!

Yes but can it send please call me's?
The S3 and Note 2 are around 7K to 9K. I am trying to justify the extra 3K and keep coming up short.
Those prices are absurd.

The tech? That's only half the story. Design is the other half.
There are phones that are over twice the price of the iPhone, but the iPhone can't charge the same amount, as their design isn't as good.

I you don't think it is too expensive, then you need to educate yourself on the value of phones and money. You must be hemorrhaging money left right and center.

No he's not.. He's just trying to compensate by lamely telling everyone how much money he thinks he has.
