so my friend just arrived in SA from Boston USA.

she's absolutely clueless (me2) on how to get her iphone 5S internet working for the duration of her stay in SA?

must she buy a local sim card and do the whole freaking rica thing?

or is there another way?

Well she can use roaming data but that is going to be extremely expensive. Like up to R500

Otherwise a local sim is the cheapest. But yes the Rica thing will then need to be done and under your name because I assume she won't have a proof of residency for South Africa.

thanks guys - I'll try my sim in her phone and see if it works. if so she can use her father details to get a local sim.

If it does work get a sim from the Pakistan cellphone shop, they have pre RICA'd SIMs.

set your phone up as Wifi Hot spot , at least she should be able to check her emails and ETC
