Interesting that. I heard them point out that half of people don't set a passcode on their phones which makes you wonder if they'll ask or force you to set the finger print with phone activation.

Better for them to get eye tracking S4
The face recognition is most certainly not fast. Why would you use that instead of a passcode?
The point of the fingerprint recognition is that it is faster then typing a 4 digit passcode (And it has the added benefit of being more secure)

Well the other side of it is why is this only limited to the 5S, why not add it onto all Apple devices? Almost seems like it's a sales gimmick. Unless(!) the new iPads will also include it but this is unlikely seeing that the 5C doesn't have a sensor...

It's a premium feature, it adds to the cost of manufacturing, and it's a selling point for their premium phones. My expectation is that it will be in the future top end iPhones. I can't see why they wouldn't put it in the new iPads but it should be a thing going forward.
The latest consensus is that Apple is treating the 5s like Mercedes treats the S-class. It is the high end model that gets the really great features that then get rolled out to the rest of the models if they turn out to be successful.
So expect the iPhone 6c (or whatever it's called) to get iTouch, A7, M7. Ditto for iPads etc

It shouldn't be a 'feature' on a single model if you want it to be adopted by all, so I agree it's a gamble on Apple's side to see how successful it is but this is only limited to the new 5S users...
I'd also assume the new iPad Mini will not have this feature then seeing that it's not a 'S-Class' which surely means this is going to be a short lived feature. If Apple wants this tech to become a standard they should surely release it on all models, even the 5C...

It doesn't matter if it's adopted by all immediately does it? So far it's only used for phone unlock and app store purchases. It will take a while for this feature to trickle into other apps. All the stuff that's in the 5S is for future looking ideas - 64 bit processor also isn't going to be adopted everywhere but in 2 years or so it's going to make a difference.
I don't know, you're either all in or you're gambling right? That's why I'm saying that it's a gamble on Apples side otherwise they would have forced it into their whole range, this would then entrenches it. It doesn't guarantee usage but at least you can start building extra features around it. I think that by releasing the 5C without it kind of points to it being a beta feature for now whether because of adoption issues or feature issues or both...

Siri was only available for the 4s when that came out and it gradually got disseminated to the rest of their hardware. This isn't just a software feature they can turn off and on. It looks like quite a sophisticated piece of tech.
