It has just been announced that the Galaxy Alpha and Note 4 has Gorilla glass 4.Am wondering if the iPhone 6 might also have it.

iPhone 6 did not use gorilla glass and it's much easier to get scratched comparing to previous models like iPhone 5/4,
There's been a huge complaints about this in the overseas forum already , apple's quality is really going down:(

My step-dad got a 64GB white iPhone 6 today. The build quality is extraordinary. The screen is too small for my liking as I'm used to 5.5" displays.

The software though - what a disaster. iOS is pretty great on the iPad Air 2, but it hurts my brain to use it on a phone. What really surprises me is the lack of polish in the iOS system, which is what Apple is historically good at. Android KitKat and Lollipop are very slick, with great fonts, font sizes and general interface elements. iOS fails massively in this regard. As I was setting up the iPhone 6 I couldn't help but be amazed at how poorly designed and ugly the interface was.

For me the ideal configuration of computing devices is a 5.5" Android phone running Cyanogenmod, an iPad, a Windows 8.1/10 desktop and a MacBook Pro laptop. A laptop running Linux is also nice if the hardware is decent, but I've encountered so few well built Windows laptops. This is what I hope to be rocking in the near future - I'm most of the way there.

It's a lot to do with what you're accustomed to using. It takes a while to get used to Android's quirks too coming from iOS but after a couple of weeks you get used to it.

I have a iPhone 5s and the only real complaint that I have is that Apple have forgotten to put a batter in the phone. Can someone with experiance of both the 5s and the 6 please tell if there is a noticeable improvement.

Yes there is a huge improvement with the iphone 5s I could only get through just over half a day before needing a charger, with the standard iphone 6 I now finally get through an entire day.So sure it's not as good as the s5 that gives me one and a half days or the note 4 that gives me two days but the important thing is that it lasts me a normal day so its usable unlike the 5s.

I had a 5s and now using both 6 and 6 plus(girlfriend has the 6), to be honest with you are just wasting money if you are upgrading from 5s to 6, coz the only difference between 5s and 6 is that you get a slightly bigger screen and better cpu(a8), I prefer 6 plus more because of its battery life , much bigger screen with full hd screen resolution , and optical image stabilization which the 6 lacks , overall 6 plus is much better than the 6 in terms of the screen resolution, battery life and camera features

Yeah well I got rid of mine very very quickly because it's a big hideous blob with huge bezels and lots of wasted space plus without a cover it just wants to slip out of your hand....If i want a phone with a bigger screen I'd rather go with the note 4.

Hopefully the next gen iphone plus will be more efficient in the space usage department.

People only get half a day out of an iPhone 5S?

I get from 7am to bedtime under moderate use. Sometimes might need to charge it by 9.

Well, iPhone 6 has exactly the same screen-to-bezel ratio as the 6 plus, just that one got a bigger screen than the other, so following ur logic , u might well get rid of your small hideous 6 too

Plus the bottom houses the touchid button and the top bezel just isn't that important in consideration of ergonomics.

I wonder what most users that complain about battery life on iPhones do. My iPhone 5 lasts a day and a half. Similar with my 6.

I use my phone quite a bit mostly for calls, whatsapp and some browsing here and there....Yes the 5s could pull me through to about 2 to 3 pm max and then I needed to charge it.

The problem with it if you think about it is all that wasted space means it's a battle to use it single handedly....The iphone 6 plus feels more like a smaller tablet than a phablet,it's almost in the same class as the Sony Xperia z ultra. So if you like your plus good for you I'm glad I got rid of that hideous bulk....When I want a bigger screen again I'll get a Note 4 as it's much better and Samsung is clearly better at making phablets....in fact LG is even better at minimising bezels on big screened phones if you look at the G3.

The note 4 has a bigger higher res screen and yet the dimensions are more compact than the plus so its a no brainer. As for your point of the ratio being the same on the iphone 6 the reality is the actual bezel size is much smaller firstly and secondly the phone is still very easy to use single handedly so your argument is null.

It's not just about quirks and the change of scenery. It's how the apps are designed and laid out, even important apps like WhatsApp, Settings, Music, Mail, Messages, Photos, App Store etc. It's like they're crappy third party apps from years gone by on Google Market, except it's iOS 8. The functions are frequently placed nonsensically, if at all. To me, good design allows an app to be navigated quickly without being familiar with it. Most of the iOS apps don't come close to achieving this.

When I'm with my step-dad and he needs help with something to do with his new iPhone, even I need to fiddle around for a bit in most cases. Most recently he couldn't forward a message to someone. I showed him how without much trouble, but the interface to do so looked like something from the early days of touchscreens. You hold down on the message and get a pathetic options list, you press for more functions, you're presented with a massive blank space with two seperate delete functions, you select a tiny little arrow icon in the lower right corner and then get a poorly designed screen to facilitate forwarding. My god it's tragic. A first year design student should be able to design something better than that. Suddenly I appreciate Messages and Hangouts on Android.

Why is the OS any different on the iPad than it is on the iPhone?

Because on iPad there isn't a focus on communication. The screen is also much larger, so the elements that would otherwise be scrunched together are spaced out better.

It's definitely a personal thing through. I use an iPhone 6 and either my Note 3 or S4 every day. One is for work, other is personal. My opinion? Based on iOS 8 and KitKat, ios 8 is easier to use and more intuitive. If I want to text, it's the iPhone, phone calls and whatsapp it's the iPhone, net browsing it's the Note (for screen size).

Overall, if I had to choose 1 exclusively, it would be the iPhone.

That's Samsung though. I'd also choose iOS over TouchWiz.

First app I load is Nova Pro launcher ;).

I also use Nova Launcher Prime, but that doesn't come close to getting rid of Samsung's bloat. You have to root to freeze all the crap running in the background, and you have to flash custom firmware to fix the notification trays and firmware menus. Basically you have to change everything, so I just avoid Samsung.
