iPhone 6s

*Getting used to a few iOS quirks. Why do I need to stretch my thump right to the top of the phone to go back a page? the back button is so much better placed on Android.

Swiping left to right on the screen is also a "go back" command in much of iOS.

Just switched to the 6S Plus(64GB) from 5S(32GB). WOW this thing is HUGE.. i kinda have to remind myself why i decided to go this route (battery) every time i see the device (its still doing the restore.. Think I will use my alwaysoff wifi which works in Sa). So i cn't really talk about battery life just yet and only started that last night. The phone is also heavier than my 5S which kinda sucks but again.. cycling the 94.7 is going to be awesome as the battery won't die(not that i had issues with my 5S but it gets really close like > 40%).

Sadly I have the Samsung A9 so hoping the phone does not suffer the same fate i do with my 5S, i.e. overheat in summer driving while charging(won't be charging this one unless long day trip with Waze).

So yah will give feedback once its fully restored and full usage on the new one is achieved (currently walking around with two phones). One issue i currently have is that the rotation gets stuck.. but i suspect this is phone hammering downloads. Anyway.. right now i'm just blown away by that screen size.. i like the form factor of 5S but bigger is better.. just not sure if Plus is too big

Cool, let us know how it pans out. Size is a huge reason I've stuck with the 5s. Everything is just so easy to do one handedly.

This. It's the best.

I think it also registers when swiping from off the screen. With the MyBb Tapatalk app, swiping left to right on screen changes pages, while swiping left to right from off the screen takes me back to Subscribed, sub forum, etc.

So far:

The good:
*Battery sitting on 80% and it came off charge at 7am and it has been used quite a bit today. A few apps downloaded, some whatsapp on device, a phone call, phone has been connected to whatapp pc for a few hours.
*Build quality is great - right up there with my HTC One m8 and feels really good in hand.
*Camera - Huge improvement over my HTC.
*Fingerprint reader is awesome

The not so good:
*Getting used to a few iOS quirks. Why do I need to stretch my thump right to the top of the phone to go back a page? the back button is so much better placed on Android. Nearly dropped the phone a few times so far.
*Phone seems "attached to the internet" more than any previous phone. Reasonably often get a delay while the phone is "phoning home"
*While the screen colours look good I can definitely notice the lower resolution with text.
*I have got lag on several occasions. On unlock and even on content rich pages. Its not bad at all but with this uber processor and low res screen I was expecting something out of this world. Perhaps its because it is still updating etc. I didnt ever get this on my HTC one m8.
*Screen size is fine for most things but I find the keyboard a bit small for my big fingers. Missing swiftkey a lot.

Still got a ton to do and play with but I must say it is nice to play with something different.

As others have mentioned, you can swipe back and forward between screens. You can also double tap the home button to bring the screen down.

Dunno about the resolution, I can't see pixels at all (maybe subjective like when people that say vinyl sounds better than digital).

In terms of slowness. I think iOS 9 is still a bit buggy, have also noticed more glitches that I am used to.

Swiftkey is available in the App Store. I'm using TouchPal which is similar

Noted. Thanks.

Interesting you say "lag" every review about A9 in the 6s says the absolute speed demon & the best chip their is..see how it goes once you are all settled.

It's no biggie at all but it definitely does exist. Google iPhone 6s lag and you will see it is not just me. Now I know one could google just about anything and find aresult but it seems as if we are all experiencing the lag in the exact same place and times.

Swiping left to right on the screen is also a "go back" command in much of iOS.
Thanks man I did notice that but it doesnt work in all screens. I'm sure I will get used to it. Just seems odd to put the back button in the complete opposite place that is easiest to reach!

I will have to report back.

Tapatalk seems to be an issue.

This. It's the best.

I think it also registers when swiping from off the screen. With the MyBb Tapatalk app, swiping left to right on screen changes pages, while swiping left to right from off the screen takes me back to Subscribed, sub forum, etc.

Works perfectly using the above.

MyBb app is better IMO.

Which screens?

He most likely means closing apps by using the back button. Going into Settings and swiping LTR will yield no results, unless you go into a sub category.

On a related note, after a long battle with a trainee clerk I finally got my device :p I'm also pretty chuffed with MTN, my SIM swap was immediate and I even got a 30GB bundle for 30 days. Nice gesture.

I'm not so sure about that. In any event, that's what the Home button is for. :)

Any case recommendations?

I have heard that the normal 6 cases fit but the ladies at MTN would not let me try the nice bodyglove one on.

I picked the Moshi SenseCover from the iStore and I enjoy it. Its got magnetic sensors on the front that lets you swipe to answer calls etc, so you don't look like you're carrying a book when you talk on the phone. It is a sin to hide such a work of art but at least my phone is completely covered and protected. I have ordered a clear self healing case from Macnificent that should arrive anytime soon now.

Must say that I was impressed with the large variety of covers available for 6S/6S Plus on launch day - a far cry from last year's launch.

I just ordered a silver 6s plus 64 gig from Vodacom direct now, they say that its a very popular colour and have very limited stock of that available while there is still ample stock of the gold version, in case anyone was wondering.

My bro is getting the gold so ill compare the two when we have them. And Ill update here on my experience of moving to my first ever Apple and iOS after owning Samsung products all my life.

Hopefully they will deliver by the end of the week

I am trying do an early upgrade through MTN but no luck. My Z2 got stolen in April but they are having non of it. Upgrade due in Feb so will just have to be patient by the looks of things.
