iPhone 6s

After waiting since the 24th of September for Telkom Mobile to receive stock of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, last weekend I decided to go to the iStore and sign up through them for a iPhone 6 Plus 64GB.

Changed it to an iPhone 6S 64GB Space Gray the next day though, normal size feels much better and more practical than the Plus.

Awaiting the call from Telkom to let me know I can go collect my device, also my first time moving to Apple...

They let you change devices?

I haven't found a need to jailbreak since iOS 7. Other than a complete change of UI, what other reasons are there?

I would agree, other than for cosmetic reasons I don't see the need, iOS does everything I need in a phone.

Anyway watch this yet?

Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine (2015) 6.5/10

An interesting & informative documentary film by CNN Films. I know Jobs as a person was a bit of an ass; a visionary on many aspects but as a person not very pleasant. This doccie is in-depth & reminds neutral but at over 2hrs it's too lengthy. We see options backdating; bullying tactics...the works.

Do you guys think the current MTN contract price will remain the same or be lower on 1 December? I don't want to sign up for a contract and for it to be lower the next week.

My experience between July - August and then to September changed every month, my guess would be it would get more expensive, or stay the same.

Dion Wired up-ed their prices in 7 days for the Christmas period.

But It can also go the other way...

Thanks. I'll take it this month then.

Not at the store, sales rep said we'll need to wait for the app to be accepted then cancel and resubmit.

But because Telkom's system is terribly slow at the moment, iStore head office are processing some of the apps for them, a consultant called me yesterday to confirm everything and also changed the device for me over the phone, just needed a new IME (spelling) number from the iStore.

Will hopefully have my iPhone soon.

A little OT, but great home screen, what are you using to space the icons? I tried Anchor but it keeps on 'losing' all my icons - I think there is a conflict with iWidget.

Using Anchor as well. I'm still on 8.4 so have springtomize installed to, with columns set to 5 and rows 7. That takes care of the spacing for my setup.

The best app ever is home screen designer but that hasn't been updated since 8.1. The developer is talented but a bit of a dick. Either that or he became fed up with his work being pirated. Pirating costs us in the long run.

I quite like the Apple UI :p

They weren't too happy with my homescreen here - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ome-screen?p=16544243&viewfull=1#post16544243. :(

Finally getting my 6s tomorrow. 9/10 days, what a joke. Vodacom passed the credit on Monday, the cellular reseller ordered one from their other branch on that day too, which still hadn't arrived today. Mailed the manager and now suddenly they've found one at the V&A which will be arriving tomorrow.

All's well that ends well though, hoping for a TSMC chip. :)

To be fair, as a current android user although I'm moving to iOS, the iOS home screen is just re-arranging icons.

Coming from Windows phone, where your screen is effectively widgets, I find the simplicity of iOS a relief.

I was constantly rearranging my windows phone screen, whenever I installed a new app that I found useful (to be fair that probably wasnt that often though).

Is it not possible to share a photo directly to instagram from camera roll?

Realized I have had my 6s for month now so time for a mini review. My previous phone was a HTC One m8 and this is my first daily driver iOS device. I have used iPods and iPads before.

Good:
-It does what it is meant to quite well most of the time.
-It looks good and feels good.
-Force touch is definitely useful - not a gimmick
-Camera is consistently good.
-Phone is smooth 99% of time.
-Enjoying having a smaller phone for a change. Easy handling and can take it with me everywhere.

Bad:
-Apps can't be opened now and again, I think it is when they are being updated, it starts downloading on WiFi and then if you walk outside WiFi it just stops and you cant use the app until you are in WiFi again.
-I was recently in Mozambique where the signal is not so great. The phone consistently struggled with its data connection. What is worse the 'Send' button is disabled when it doesn't have a solid connection. Thank goodness I had my Android tablet with me which would send it whenever it found connection.
-I have noticed a few bugs. Swiftkey keyboard doesn't render properly, quick reply messages vanished (now resolved)
-Swiftkey only works in some apps. Very annoying.
-Apps on homescreen notify me of a message or whatever. When I open the app (i.e. facebook) there is nothing new. Only a few seconds later does the message show up. wtf?
-Can't post directly to instagram from camera app?
-Password manager thing and safari. What a f up!! While abroad I was using wifi hotspots quite a bit (well trying to). At one place it was impossible to enter the logon username and password I kid you not, I even passed the thing around and let others try. It would simply not let me enter a username in the text box as it was trying to tie it to a password in my profile.
-iTunes... where to start.

Ok:
Battery has been inconsistent. Some days it has nearly lasted two days others it has died before I get to bed. Portable hotspot drains the battery extremely quickly.

Thats about it for now. Overall its been fun playing with something new but some of the quirks above are annoying as hell.

Yeah I stopped using 3rd party keyboards. It annoyed me that the force touch trackpad wasn't there. I also accidentally switch keyboards more often than not.

Would you still recommend the switch from Android to iOS?
