Hi all, I'm planning to get an iPhone 6S when they're available, and I'm looking at insurance offers. I'm with Vodacom, and insured with Outsurance so I looked at those two, and someone suggested getting my upgrade through the iStore. Estimates are based on ~R13k cash price for a 64GB 6S.
So on single replacement iStore wins with a total of R2300 total for replacement. But that single replacement is a big limitation. I assume you can then get a new package for the replacement phone though. For repeated claims, Outsurance is the clear winner.
So can anyone give any advice based on past experience with any of these options? Any gotchas they don't mention or particularly long waits for replacement, etc? If not.. well at least these options are here for anyone else who wants to know about them
- Vodacom is R245/month (so R5880 over the 24 months). Excess is the max of 10% claim cost or R300, so replacement would be R1300. It then goes up per claim. Looks like unlimited claims.
- Outsurance is R160/month (so R3840 over 24 months) with an excess of R650. I assume unlimited claims here as well, but premium will go up with repeated claim.
- iStore is R1300 once off, plus R1000 on actual claim. Only one replacement is allowed (these are new rules and prices as of 15 October).
