iPhone Toughness = Impressed

All depends on how it falls, mine fell face down from waist height in a flip cover and the screen was shattered. Had the screen replaced, only to have a tannie ram her trolley into me cracking it again...

Must be honest, iPhone durability from the iPhone 5 onward has been, at best, questionable.

Mine find themselves in sturdy pouches from birth till change of ownership and touchwood, as a result, I've never done any external damage to a dropped phone. The screen on my 5c did partially pop out once though, after being dropped.

Ek sal mos die tannie se windscreen gaan kraak. They cost about the same to fix.

Thought I would make a new thread just to share an experience on the toughness of the latest iPhones.

1st off I'm normally very careful of my phones & take good care of them. Come resale time they get sold at a good price.

Early this afternoon I went to pick up my kid from school; popped him in the car seat & while in the road just wanted to check something urgently on my iPhone (6s Plus) & in what seemed like a split second...I took it out of my jeans & it somehow slipped out of my hand from & fell face down on Tarmac! I was shattered... Expected the worse; immediately picked it up & I saw there was like no damage...just a very very tiny amounts of scuffing!

Tested to make sure TouchID & screen input all works & all was good. Get in the car to make the 16km journey home. At a robot (traffic light) close by I pull out the phone & I see its not function at all...cannot boot up. I start panicking

Get home...plug in charger..nothing. Performed Hard reset & all good. Tested all functionality & all good. Then went thru the exterior with a fine tooth comb & I promise you the phone is still in excellent condition! The *only* thing is two very minor scuffing at the top.

I doubt you can make out from the pics. (Were taken with a tired 4s btw)

If I was not an iPhone fan already now I was an even bigger fan now...

Damn they make quality phones!

Lest we also not forgot about the water resistance abilities of the 6s duo that iFixit confirmed.

Impressive impressive hardware.

Falls flat face down on tar & just a tiny scuff...

Rest assure my "lesson" learned as well...whew

:D:D:D

You're impressed with phone that didn't break after a ~1.7m fall?

My Galaxy S2 (5 years old now) had fallen hard enough that the battery went flying at least 10 times. It also took a swim in glass of water while on and is still as perfect as a Galaxy S2 can be. The volume up rocker stopped working for a while, but is fine now.

My Nokia Lumia 930 finally got a cracked screen after about 7 or so tarmac/garage floor type drops and couple other less harsh drops. It still works perfectly despite the cracked glass. My phones don't have any kind of cover or screen protection.

In all fairness, the only protection I had when mine fell was the screen protector :D. Fell flat on its face and the back hit something on the way down causing a dent in the back and on the side
