Is a PS4 really worth it?

Yeah, LAIR was not a "must have" game. And this is the same as any sort of ecosystem- less popular items are generally harder to find than more popular ones.
 
Going to wait as well. Im not a heavy gamer anyway, and my son is more into it with the lego games etc so the PS3 still serving its purpose for me. Also I need to get a better idea of what the catalogue of games will be in another 6 months time. This is pretty much a bedding in period for Sony right now, so will be interesting to watch from a distance so long
 
The ps4 is back on FNB smart devices. With 2 games and 2 controllers
 
Got one delivered via uCount - the 5,5k cost was just very compelling. Hardly any decent titles out there (other than Thief and Knack). The DS4 is actually quit nice compared to the DS3. I found the system software pretty useless with the exception of downloading in standby mode and games now doing the whole download-while-you-play thing. Annoying is that I think you can not pause downloads, so the days of queueing up PS+ titles, pausing all but one are over. I think the Xbox One system software (considering picture-in-picture) is more polished though.

If I won one, I would sell it.

Should make for a nice deposit for a top end GFX Card.

Also, the games that I don't play online is all pirated. I am not encouraging you but I won't pay for a game that doesn't need to be online to play.

LOL what about Killzone? The best game graphically?What about NBA2k14 or Tomb Raider or Fifa14? :wtf:
Queueing of downloads will be implemented with an update but not sure when,so its not all over ;)

Hate FPS (so KZ, BF4 are out), also hate sports (so no Fifa and no NBA). I think Knack is great (always enjoyed jump and run), Thief (waiting for download to finish) - not sure about Infamous (didn't like the PS3 versions). Hope some RPGs are coming soon...
 
Lets put it this way in 5 years time you'll still be stuck on 1080p on a PS4

Thief is FPS too :erm:

And why buy from the overpriced PS store when the physical copy is cheaper?

I still have a sealed copy of Knack that i got with my ps4 and im never going to play it, so we are very different :)
Thief is FPS btw.
 
Is it worth it to get the PS4 on fnb or would it be better to wait for the gen 2 version of the PS4? Other problem would be if you wait 6 months how much will it cost you then.

If you're prepared for the wait, then rather do that. But I highly doubt the next version will be come around soon.
Another issue is the R/$, so it might go up further before it comes down. The FNB special is not badly priced - considering it comes with 2 controllers and 2 games...Even better (if you don't have money saved up for a PS4) is that you get to pay monthly.
 
I am still very happy with my PS4.

Getting inFamous today, I have not played any of the previous ones but the previews looked great.
 
Didn't read all the posts, but answering the thread title, keep in mind I've been console fan my whole life, but for gaming purposes none of the new gen consoles are worth it, you can build a pc for about 7-8k that wil perform better than the ps4, games are way cheaper on the pc, graphics are better (yeah I know graphics are not everything)

Here is my perspective.

In the olden days, I got a console, because back then, desktop PC sucked i.e. lagged behind the tech in consoles. The reverse is now true. I had Sega Saturn and I still have my Sega Dreamcast.

I have an XBOX 360, to play certain games, but all the rest run on my desktop PC. I specifically waited for the 2nd generation XBOX360 after they fixed the RROD issues. I am not a fan of Sony at all due to the way they treated SEGA. I am unfortunately a true-to-the-core SEGA supporter, even though these days the company is as potty as a maiden aunt with a wet dress and have totally ruined the Sonic franchise. I sold my Wii because it was far better to emulate the Wii and get Full HD and a performance increase. Wii games seem to love the Intel Core i3 when run in Dolphin.
I can also mod/tweak the desktop PC and get better game performance, for the same title, on the XBOX 360. The cross-platform games I have both on PC and XBOX, reason being is that sometimes the PC is busy doing something i.e. rendering a 3D model I am working on, or busy running a 3D printing job which cannot be interrupted. So then I sit on the couch and play XBOX.
