Is it worth getting a smartphone?

And in breaking news, fascinatingly, if you don't make phone calls you don't need a mobile. But you can still use it for other tasks, for instance as an alarm clock...but you don't have to...

If you choose to not use it for anything, then you don't need the battery.

Why did I read the article???

And you're asking whom exactly? :p

I've got three smartphones. Two high-end and a cheaper one. And I'm sick of charging them everyday. The cheaper Samsung has to be charged twice a day in normal operation, 3 months old now.

So I just got me the ultra cheapest Nokia black and white screen cell for around R80 and now do all my calling on it. And the battery lasts 5+ days.

It seems somewhere people settled for better specs and functionality at the cost of battery life. What's next? Some UBER new hardware or function gets squeezed into all smartphones that everybody drools over, but it only has 30min battery life?. F that. I've learnt my lesson.

In the next two years or so all phones will be 'smart', so the question is really do you need a cellphone?

You can get colour if you want: Nokia 1616 R130 by example. long battery life. Similar to 1600 I use.
Use smaties for fun. :)

Most people who use smartphones have access to electrical outlets. Some of the more ingenious users connect these outlets to their phone chargers and then to their smartphones. The really clever ones do this when they are sleeping at night.

Those users that don't make it to the night...upgrade to iphones.

Since I got a tablet, I hardly use my smartphone for emails/internet/games/social networks, so yes, a smartphone is not all that necessary bar for some.

My God. Seems Derrick's disease has hit QuintonB  Expect to see it in the last episode of House.

With moderate use, my smartphone lasts 3 days and with heavier use, two days. But even if it only lasted a day, whats the problem with simply charging it every night?

I guess I just don't get the whole issue about smartphone batteries not lasting days on end. All the pro's simply outweigh the con of charging every night. For me at least.

That is pretty impressive! I have no idea how you manage that.

Here is an average screenshot of my usage
