IS News Server down?

serves seem to be back to normal after a VERY long time for me. let's hopei t says that way
 
At least it's working. Iv managed to download like 4gb or so this weekend. :)
 
But is it downloading anything? I get 100k on 4 connections but nothing downloads at all, just use gigs for nothing
 
So basically I take it that while they have been/are still upgrading the server, the older binaries have been available but they have not updated the newer ones?

Is it worth getting another IS account while this upgrade is going on. There is stuff that I want and I dont want to waste days while its working properly (as those days are rare :)) but at the same time I dont want waste the money if they arent gonna be back up fully during this month.

What do you newsserver fundis have to say? Dabouncer? Ziglet and others?

Im getting 6 connections at 40Kb/s+ on 512K.

Style - U can get urself a 1gig/10gig account from Imagine for R100. or Openweb.
 
I recon hang tight till beginning of next month. Order urself Openwebs R139 30gb local only account in the mean time.
 
Style - If the stuff you trying to get is pretty oldish, then you might aswell have a go.

But check your priv msgs.

Like i suggested. Just wish they would introduce a paid news server. Does any1 know how to host a news server and how it reads binary data from overseas news groups? I noticed in Fedora Core 5 their is a "news server" server option but not sure how to link binary info to it...?
 
Yipppeeee, left it downloading last nite, and look how the speeds pickd up:
3am-4am:445mb
4am-5am:489mb
5am-6am:541mb
6am-7am:672mb

and rate im going now 7am-8am will be 720mb ;)

first time ive seen speeds like this in ages avg 200kb/s this hour :)
 
Im still downloading fresh air, nothing is downloading at all, wonder why certain people are getting errors and others not
 
Probably cause i went through a list of nzb's till i found some that actually showed some hope of "real" data movement ;)

I had a lot that i went through that just gave air...
 
Yeah only q3 managed to download for me this weekend, everything else was just air, so whats really going on, I dont understand it? Is it IS or something else? How many connections in total using both servers do u have?
