IS News Server down?

lol, i cant even get grabit to connect... is there like a button or something?!?! i mean, load the nzb, and its in the batch and im sitting staring at... umm... nothing
 
ok cool got it to connect, damn newsbin is so much better than this


*EDIT: thats weird though, every nzb i have had trouble with works perfectly in grabit... Wonder if its version 5 of newsbin or something to do with the server...

I would say Newsbin but for some weird reason it's just not working.

That happens, if you see that it's not connecting then uncheck the thread and check it again until it starts downloading. It's a trial and error thing which you have to keep doing until it downloads - after which it's fine to stop monitoring. Thing is I've found that it doesn't connect more than 4 simultaneous threads no matter how much I try.
 
How many connections can u get? How does one application work and the other not??? Things are getting really weird

With Grabit - max 32.

With Newsbin - as many as you want.

What makes Newsbin great is the ability to download from more than 1 server simultaneously - something which helped big time over the last 2 crappy months. For example you could get 4 connections to news.is and 4 to news.isdsl and run 8 connections in total.

Makes no difference though since IS seem to have limited the max connections to between 4-8.

well now that i know that the articles are on the server, time to find a working newsbin...
 
Lets us know if you come right with any versions of newsbins, the max connections we can get is 4 to each news server is think, but the news.isdsl.net is down i think
 
Which server do you guys use? I use news.isdsl.net and it times out once in a while, but the downloads are fine, but is.co.za is dead ;)
 
i usually set up it to download from both...

*EDIT: wooot newsbin is working now all of a sudden... I wont tell you freaks what speed im getting cause i swear one of you have a voodoo doll of my adsl line and squeeze it when im getting good speeds(ive said too much already)

I was replying about the news.isdsl server. I use grabit, sorry 4 u's. I wish grabit could also use multiple servers at the same time. Grabit is still a winner for me. :)
 
I also use grabit, but I've got both servers added to the list, so if one doesn't want to download I just select all the files and right click and choose download with that server, it's basically the same as multiple servers ;) give it a try, there's only news.is.co.za and news.isdsl.net hey? or are there more? :D
 
well with grabit, just select half the queue with the one server and the rest with the other. 8connections...

Not quite - with grabit you still have to be there to manually set it. Downloading from multiple servers means you can leave it on overnight - different parts of your files will download from each server therefore maximising your line. Also if one server goes down, the other automagically acts as a backup ;)
