Is this the iPhone 6 killer?

I just thought I'd show you that there was - in my eyes - a decent improvement in something most really want in a smart phone. Going from a low 'poor' to a medium 'poor' is nothing to sneer at !

I cannot recall witnessing iPhone users regularly moaning about battery, not that I haven't heard it before as I probably have, but it's certainly not an issue or what iPhone users are saying they really want. What I do recall is people moaning about Android battery problems and unacceptable drain due to background apps etc., which I know has gone through improvements in the last 1 - 2 years.

I respect your opinion that it's something "most really want", but the bottom line is that it's not a problem in its current form for most people as it's no problem to charge, so I disagree with you on that basis.

There have been definite improvements noted with the new 6/6+
As one can see, it seems that Apple has managed to do something quite incredible with battery life. Normally an 1810 mAh battery with 3.82V nominal voltage would be quite a poor performer, but the iPhone 6 is a step above just about every other Android smartphone on the market. The iPhone 6 Plus also has a strong showing, although not quite delivering outrageous levels of battery life the way the Ascend Mate 2 does. That's it for now, but the full review should be coming in the near future.

Agreed, that and the 4s battery life (compared to 5/5s having owned all three) in Dolby's benchmarks are what I picked up as being bunk.

Anyway - now you can see what really causes the fights ;)

A person will point out a poor or average, and an iPhone users entire world simply explodes. It's nearly an average rating - which should be fine!

Sorry, not interested. I've shown you my battery usage and how it contradicts what you believe and what you used to make your point. I've also explained why I think battery is not so much a concern, and that iPhone users are hardly concerned about it. I fully appreciate that you and others may require long battery life in case you are away from power outlets for extended periods of time.

bwana has also showed you that the iPhone 6/6 Plus batteries are quite special, so then again for long battery life one may actually rather consider an iPhone 6/6 Plus which on paper should easily be beaten (just like the rest of the specs... ;)):

So you ignore both my tests in favour of the one that shows you to be 'right'?
The test which actually excludes the real flagships (Z2 / Z3) in the battery stakes?
Should I get a 3rd or 4th test for you?

What 'causes fights' is using ignorance and non facts in order to discredit that which is not complained about.

Why are you compelled to complain on behalf of iPhone users who are not complaining themselves?
 
I just thought I'd help by saying 'hey buddy! There is actually a reason to upgrade ; battery is better than 5S!'

There are plenty of reasons to upgrade, none of which appeal to me.

Your use of sarcasm and false stats has actually backfired, because the 6 is much more an improvement as what you wanted to have us believe.

I'm not very happy with the battery life compared to what I was getting from the LG G2. It's obviously to do with the relative sizes of the phones and you can fit a much larger battery into a 5" chassis than a 4" one (hence the improvements in the 6+). But still it drains much quicker. Luckily I do have charging cables everywhere I go so it's not really a factor. But for instance the overnight drain last night went from 100% to like 82% by morning which to me is absurd.

The reasons to go for iPhone 6 for me are simply 1) the screen is amazing in person. I know it isn't rated as highly as something like the Note4, but to view it, the effect where it appears to pop out of the surface is much nicer. It feels like looking at paper. And 2) the camera improvements are the business.

Wifi, Bluetooth and location on or off?
Does iOS have 'power saving' features?

The Sony has a few, but as standard the battery life is amazing. I have all of those turned on continually and I can reach 24 hrs. If I turn them off battery life is out of this world.

I turned nothing off so it was running on full drain. But still the G2 would be like 90 something in the morning.

Either there are background processes running, leading to drain. Or you're in a low signal area and your phone is constantly seeking better signal. Or the battery is old and losing capacity (iPhone 5 is from 2012).

My iPhone 5 with crappy Cell C SIM drains helluva fast (probably the same as what you've mentioned), not because of the phone, but because of the SIM and area I'm in. Even though I constantly have 2 - 3 bars signal.

You can test this by disabling GSM and only keeping wifi on.

In fact I sent the seller quite a stern PM as I initially thought he sold me a faulty iPhone 5. Turned out to be Cell C. :o

Is your iPhone 5 cold to the touch in the morning? Or is there a slight warmth to it?
