Is this the iPhone 6 killer?

By the way... Buyer could not contain his joy about going back to iPhone. Ditching Android/Nexus 4 which became slow and laggy after Lollipop was pushed out. 2GB RAM and quad core, and a Nexus...

I then gave him my iPhone 5 (1GB RAM and dual core) running iOS 8 and he could not get over how fast and smooth it was, practically identical to the 5s.

Thought of y'all.

Sure. It depreciated immediately (people selling contract phones for cash). This is not retail price, it's comparing oranges and pears.

Android users seem to offer the best deals. They cash in on going for an iPhone upgrade instead of Android. ;)

Same or worse depreciation as Android phone.

But this applies to all technology products, worth nothing when used.

Probably drops by 75% over 2 years, applies to iPhones as well.

Sure, if using RRP. Which we're not.

A minute fraction of people buy at RRP, they either don't care, have money to burn, or are claiming from insurance with their payout card.

The poor non iPhone users would be sitting at about 70% depreciation if using RRP, does not sound great at all...

Why? How else do you expect to determine that it holds value if you are not basing said value off of the base price set by the manufacturer?

I seem to remember that iOS8 was the version with the most Android developments built in - so no surprise he enjoyed it!

I think you're being silly. The fact of the matter is that very few people buy phones upfront at RRP. It's the exact reason people selling their upgrades don't charge RRP prices. Classifieds is anyone's game.

If you page back, you will see that my phone was in brand new condition. That gave me at least R500 extra, a lesser condition 5s would range between R4,000 - R4,500. Of course it's an anecdotal situation, and I am by no means using it for anything more than that.

They do, however, depreciate much less than others. A fact you and I have already established.

You're deliberately missing the point here, and as Jola has already pointed out, are being totally misleading about the apparent value of iPhones.

A used phone can never be in brand new condition :p

Slightly off topic- but when I initially put my iPhone 5 up for sale, despite owning it for all of 4 hours and only using it to put it on and verify that it wasn't an OBF, I got a snotty statement from a few "perspective buyers" that the phone is used because the box has been opened.

They do, however, depreciate much less than others. A fact you and I have already established.

It's not a guarantee, though, so no, not a fact. More a likelihood.
