I use it for various reasons.

1) I have an horrific fear of the Vodacom OOB Shark, so I usually have a VC Voice Sim in Slot 1, and a VC Data Contract Sim in Slot 2. Top Up, of course. I have found it impossible to have voice and data on one sim with VC without getting nailed at some point.

2) Sometime I have a Cell C sim in Slot 2, with data and voice, for cheap calls with Cell C (they used to have that 50c per minute thing).

3) The LG G3 does TM LTE, so I sometimes have a TM data sim in Slot 2. Depends on the area, not always reception.

4) When I go overseas I use a local sim in slot 2 with data and voice, for local calls and cheap data. I then use VC SMS roaming on the VC sim, so can receive sms's. Because I have local data I can call my voice mail in SA, or make calls to SA, using SkypeOut.

Those are the main reasons, I am sure that I could come up with a few more.

But I can't live without a dual sim phone.

Of course the local service providers won't sell those, because it allows you to reduce your payments to them. But they are all on eBay.

Which ever way you want to put it, once used, it is a fact that it's worth more and depreciates less.

Do you worry about resale of anything you buy, before you buy it?

I buy things for the enjoyment rather than the investment :/

Anyway - you'll see earlier how I battled to sell a brand new iPhone at 50% of it's value ; unopened and sealed. Hardly much better

I do, intensely. I don't lose money on anything I buy.

Secondhand selling is like waiting for the proverbial bus. It has peaks and troughs. Sometimes you'll sit for weeks with an item, and then suddenly you'll get a lineup of people wanting it at once.
 
How did you get a new iPhone was R6,800?

By not buying from retail stores, and using classifieds, and waiting 1.5 - 2 months for the hype to die down (and higher price), there are great deals to be had.
