Been fighting with Telkom about my line quality since October. They have done a few things to decrease the static. But ever since early Jan, my voice line has been dead and I get lots of adsl disconnects. Especially when it looks like, yep looks like, its going to rain.

I've tried lowering the sync speed to 364, still the same issue. I've logged probably over 15 faults with them.

So I did a little inspection of my wiring and 2 minutes in I come across.

Are these box meant to be outside, in direct weather? The lines are loose, not stuck onto anything, so when we have our joburg storm, they probably fly like kites.

The wiring leading into and out of these boxes were exposed at least 5cm and were still wet from that night's rain wet. This wiring was done in late October.

This can't be the norm.

If that honestly is the wiring at your house, then yes, that's a big problem right there. Whether it's the norm or not I dunno, but you have to get them to come fix that ****.

that box needs to be inside as it has sensitive electronics, once it get wet and surge runs tough that, then you can kiss everything connected to that line bye bye. They need to provide you with a wire from their box (white box with millions of wires :D ), and then take the wire inside the house where they then connect the wire to the box that is currently on your roof. Tell them to fix it.

outside mounted, even they should be able to think that is bad o.0

thinking, an ability many seem to lack :)

those cables self look chewed up and frott, as for those boxes, one would usually see them mounted on a facure-board under the roof overhang. and going around the building, not exposed like that ...one lazy linesman

Update, logged fault + escaltion on the 15th still no reply.

Found somemore handywork.

Think this was done intentionally to join 2 wires. Surely exposed wires like that isn't in the techie handbook.

looks like a housewife's attempt at being a handyman :)

anyway, phone again untill they send someone
if you can, print out those pictures and go make a stink at their direct shop

you've played patient long enough and can demand some action now without feeling guilty

I wish that people would stop using imageshack to post pics of this nature. Try the links above - not working. The direct one works - like the Wood ....

That is pathetic. Pathetic although I have seen that before, which is sad to say the least.
