It would appear that Mweb is blocking BitTorrent 100%

I haven't been able to connect to BitTorrent intermittently over the last few days, mainly during daytime. Today however, it's been nearly all day, yet my web browsing is always totally unaffected.

So I did a Glasnost test, which a website that tests to see if an ISP is shaping traffic, and here's the result...

I'm on an uncapped plan and have only downloaded about 20gig so far this month.
BT has since come back online, but yeah, its one thing to shape BT during peak times, I accept that, but to block it entirely, which what it appears, I think I'm changing my ISP.

Anyone else having similar issues on Mweb?

I probably will. The main reason I'm posting though is to see whether its an isolated issue or not, and if it isn't, some thing should be done whether I'm a customer or not.

Yes, something should be done, like you signing up for business account (unshapped uncapped) from someone else.

I don't see how they can be blocking BitTorrent. Most Bittorrent traffic is encrypted these days and it's impossible for them to know whether or not a piece of data is related to a BitTorrent download, even using sophisticated deep inspection of data packets.

P2P shaping is extremely common amongst the world's ISP's. It's very easy to limit. Mweb doesn't allow the masking of traffic anyway.

Currently I'm listening to appalling Musak for the last 45minutes waiting for someone from Telkom to answer and reset my port...

Does your VPN permit P2P traffic? How much bandwidth do you typically go through in a month? Mweb expressly forbids VPN's on their home accounts. I left them years ago so I wouldn't know if or how they enforce that rule.

I've used VPN and encrypted networks without an issue. Millions of people in China manage to do it too...

Ok, my BT connection has been at zero or near-to all day and most of tonight. Now all of a sudden I'm getting somewhat respectable speeds again.
Coming up to 10pm, off peak coincidence?

I wasn't suggesting that Mweb would inspect encrypted traffic - rather that if you were a home user using a VPN and achieving high usage then perhaps they'd take action.
