at the moment, julius is being attacked because he has managed to step out of poverty,
and in a fashion that brings about envy in many.

but is the attack against jules because of his wealth, which nobody really cared about until very
recently, or because he has the guts to suggest that our natural wealth, such as gold, diamonds,
platinum should be used to improve the plight of the poor, and not a few individuals?

this is my perspective, but i stand to be corrected...what are your views? i ask because the youth
of SA appear to remain in his corner regardless of the media's apparent attack on his character.

Nationalisation of mines doesn't work. Neither did the USSR. Suggesting this isn't guts it poor economic judgement from a man who clearly has absolutely no idea how the finance of this country runs. His actions could result in the death of mining in this country, along with thousands of jobs. Is that your idea of helping people?

Julius is a racist and thinks he is better than those he should be helping. The man makes a mockery of the entire institution and undermines everything the ANC did since the beginning of the struggle.

If he wanted to improve the plight of the poor he wouldn't have stolen and cheated them out of money they deserved to benefit from by eliciting tenders he neither deserved nor was able to fulfil. People are marching in Polokwane today even because of the problems caused by people like him. As a result of his arrogance and greed many people have lost their jobs, and are poorer than when they started.

Julius Malema is no hero, he is a villian and a self-indulgent bully. I hope he gets what is coming to him.

EDIT: and don't mistake the rank and file followers of the ANC YL as "the youth". They are in it for the money and power, make no mistake. Fortunately there are more intelligent individuals in the youth today that will built this country's future. A future without cowards like Malema.

just because nationalisation did not work elsewhere, as in your example, does not mean it will fail here; the ANCYL is also proposing sharing 50% with the current owners, therefore...the profit will be shared; surely means need to be developed to share natural wealth in more visible, constructive ways with the masses, who really need the financial support more than others
 
Nationalisation does not work when you have greedy corrupt politicians... show me ONE country that doesn't have greedy corrupt politicians?

oh 50%? how generous of them. Why exactly will the current owners willingly give up their 100% share just so the guavamint can get 50% for doing sweet fsck all? If I owned a mine and the guavamint wanted 50%, they'd have to pay BIG money to get it out of me.. basically they'd have to pay 50% of the remaining viable output of the mine, and at estimated future prices as well.

What makes you think the government nationalising the mines will mean ANY money gets to the poor masses? The masses need financial support to a degree.. but its better to spend the money educating the masses and helping them to uplift themselves rather than just giving them everything
 
Maybe the new elite few who are enriching themselves at the expense of the taxpayer should share some of their wealth with their poorer relatives and communities.
 
Julius Malema didn't attain his wealth through consistent hard work. He got it through political connections.

FFS He wouldn't even know how to register a company if it hadn't been for his comrades doing it for him.

No, just because nationalisation hasn't worked for the last 100 years, it means it won't work here. 50% you say? So like a parastatal along the lines of SABC, Eskom, Telkom, SAA or Transnet? Yes, they are the model of well run businesses. Nationalisation won't work in most countries and it most definitely won't work here.

firstly, there is no proof or even an investigation that he has stolen
anything, but this has nothing to do w/ the issue of nationalisation,
and we are not zimbabwe. there are millions in SA who think we
should benefit as the masses...you have not addressed that.

It's very dangerous and idiotic to believe the "profits" will be shared with the poor! How is it done now? What a joke. Do you realy believe the investors will fall for a 50% profit while they must feed the bucks towards a inherently corrupt elitist government and nation? You are a tad dreaming and in for another Zimbabwe reqality check and shock!

So yeah! ..... are anyone in Zimbabwe enjoying those nationalized ventures "profits"?

Who will be running the mines, Malema? I suppose he will "quote"/contract for all the projects and maintenance too then.

50% mate...the same people will manage the mines, the other 50% goes to the people...or is sharing a crime?

It is with this government. Parastatals do not work in South Africa, the ANC has proved that time and time again over the last 15 years. How can you not see this?
 
You still haven't explained why the current owners will just blithely hand over a 50% share of their mines to the government.

What incentive do they have to do that?

The only way to benefit is through hard work; a trait that is seriously lacking in the NSA.

BTW can you provide some proof of how hard Juli-ass has worked?

What systems, the ANC and ANCYL and Malema and ALL the rest of AFRICA systems? Up to now nothing as yet "WORKED" so what corrupt "system"would be put in place.
