JUST RECEIVED THIS FROM MWEB!!!

sites like the pirate bay, mininova and every other public site are no gos no matter how much you want to watch or play something, every isp will continue to recieve these letters if users continue to download files from these dodgy public sites, none of the isps are monitoring what you download, but the anti piracy teams are.
 
Fark!!!. Say sorry, virus was the problem and then back to the downloads. We all ( ok 99.9%) dl illegal stuff
 
FFS you noobs are the ones who will be responsible for the law changing to prohibit downloading.

Take the proper damn precautions or get your stuff from someone who does.
 
Downloading from the internet should be contingent on scoring over 100 in an IQ test.

Sweet logic. So if no one was getting caught for murder, it wouldn't be unlawful?

Pretty stupid comparison but if no one knew that people where getting murdered there would be no need for new laws to combat murder or at least the lawmakers wouldn't know that there is a need.

Besides, there is no law that says downloading is illegal.
 
Okay Nimz, I think you opened yourself up for abuse here....

Just one question. Why are you still doing torrents?? I can get just about all my stuff I need on news files.... The rest I am willing to ditch or wait till I eventually get it on news files.

If you need some pointers - drop me a PM. ;)

Thanks Tango Atleast you have something usefull to say....I don't use News servers because i can't afford Astraweb etc and the Mweb one only allows for 2 connections which is a bit slow for downloading on a 384 line
 
Dude, please do as I did, for the sake of causing less shlep for the boys at Mweb, get a Astraweb account and use news server, if you need info on how to do it, just pm me.
 
Peerblock sounds to be, or very soon be, scant protection. The guys behind most of this stuff, BayTSP, had a article out about a year ago already saying they had no trouble getting around peerblock and the other one. Just means that all we pirates on the seven seas of internetdom need to up our game.
 
Ignore it.

If they persist, point out the them that downloading copyrighted works from personal use is not unlawful in SA, but the privacy of communications is a fundamental right (s14, 1996 Constitution). Ask for a copy of the RICA interception direction which was issued in order to let them monitor your communications.
 
I don't see the issue here, any ISP will send you a letter similar to that when downloading something illegal. You did read their T&C right? Not allowed to download copyrighted materials.
