Kim Jong Il is dead.

He's Korean, not Chinese.

North Korean actually... Still doesn't make Team America any less funny.

PS. We've been frew this a dozen times. I don't have any weapons of mass destwuction, OK

Lee Myung-bak Date of birth is December 19, 1941

He is the President of South Korea

When the BBC displayed:

Kim Jong Un declared "Greatest Successor"

I thought, why not just declare it then, and also the BBC should get a spelling checker.

And then it struck me: the UN (United Nations) must have declared the new successor.

And only then.......:D

Good riddance to a rabid piece of scum. I hope it was painful.

What did he do that has upset you so much gary?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-16250499

Seems the people of north korea were not exactly rejoicing. The media makes it out like he was this horrific person but yet the people didn't think he was.

Should be interesting to see how things move forward though.

You are kidding me right?

Please don't talk about things you clearly have NO idea about. My grandparents are from North Korea, they know first hand how fscked out that country is and what they do to their people. At least read up on what is happening there, and the cult of personality of Kim Jong Il.

I have dude, i was just asking gary what has made him so upset. If you took the time to read that article you would see that is points out millions mourning him. It just struck me as odd that the people were not rejoicing considering how bad everyone says he is.

There is nothing odd about it! Read up on the cult of personality!
North Koreans truly believe that they are the best off in the world and that their lives are owed to the Kims. Every house has a hanging picture of them, every morning in school children are taught how the Kims victoriously defeated Americans and secured the freedom of North Koreans.

You are not allowed outside information at all, holding a foreign DVD or listening to international radio means being sent to the gulags, including your entire family and any successive children you would have because N. Koreans believe in eugenics... And you know what, afer being sent to starvation and labour until death, they still thank The Kims for allowing them to "right their wrongs" and "better themselves".

You saw the TV presenter mourning? Guess what, regardless of whether she got told to or not, if she didn't, she will lose her status and probably be forced to work off the great insult that was not crying for the Dear Leader.

Be thankful you live in a free society, others are not so lucky.

Yeah, very enlightened ruler...

PYONGYANG - In June, the North Korean soccer team dropped ignominiously out of the World Cup without a point after conceding 12 goals in three games. Since the players returned home, they have been publicly shamed, according to reports. The manager has been forced to become a construction worker, and there are fears for his safety.

North Korea is one of the most oppressive regimes on earth. The soccer team’s first game was not televised in the country, for fear of embarrassment. But when the team put up a remarkably good show against Brazil, narrowly losing 2-1, hopes were raised and the second game against Portugal was shown. The team lost 7-0. And then lost again, 3-0, in their last game against the Ivory Coast.

According to reports from Radio Free Asia and the South Korean media, earlier this month the team and manager were forced onto a stage at the People’s Palace of Culture in front of 400 government officials, students, and journalists. According to the Guardian, the athletes were subjected to a “six-hour barrage of criticism” for their poor performances that was led by a TV commentator and sports minister Pak Myong-chol.

The only players who missed out on the humiliation were Jung Tae-se and An Yong-hak, who are based in Japan.

The players were then asked to step up in turn and publicly criticize manager Kim Jong-hun, who had apparently been singled out for punishment. He has been forced into a construction job because, it is thought, his team’s failure is seen as a personal betrayal of Kim Jong-un, the son of current leader Kim Jong-il. The Guardian reports that plans were in place, in the case of a good performance at the tournament, to credit the team’s success to the heir apparent to help ease the transition of power. Instead, there are reportedly fears for the manager’s safety.

Still, a South Korean intelligence source told the newspaper Chosun Ilbo that the team had probably escaped with a light punishment. In the past, he said, athletes and coaches who displeased the regime were sent to prison camps: “Considering the high hopes North Koreans had for the World Cup, the regime could have done worse things to the team than just reprimand them for their ideological shortcomings.”

Yet the deceased megalomaniac personally owned 20,000 movies on DVD.

Exactly. North Korea is better off without the entire regime.

I honestly hope there will be a power struggle where they will just disintegrate

Boramk,

You're waisting your time.

With him it's "any enemy of the evil white infidel west is a friend of his".
He's most likely mourning the death of Kim Jong Il.

Thank goodness the US has loads more of these drones to keep up the surveillance on the Muslim terrorist nations, and of course taking out a good few of the Islamic terrorists.

Strange Facts about Kim Jong Il

Some of these facts bring tears to my eyes! :D

He Was Born Under A Double Rainbow

According to Kim Jong Il's official biography, he was born in a secret military camp on Baekdu Mountain during North Korea's Japanese occupation and his arrival was prophesised by a double rainbow and marked by the sight of a new star and a swallow in the sky. Unfortunately the truth appears to be more mundane - according to Soviet records, Kim was born in the Siberian village of Vyatskoye in 1941.

He Loved Waterslides

Recently-taken satellite imagery of some of Kim Jong-Il's personal mansions (the Communist leader had at least 17) show that the leader made great efforts to build and maintain a series of ludicrously loopy waterslides.

He Was Afraid Of Flying

Kim Jong Il was reportedly terrified of flying and always travelled in armoured private trains - one of which he eventually died inside. His father, Kim Il-sung, was also afraid of flying.

He Kidnapped Short People

According to one of Kim Jong Il's former tutors, the leader used pamphlets advertising wonder-growth drugs to lure small people into traps, from where they would be deported to "uninhabited islands" to remove their "substandard" stock from the genepool.

He Was The World's Greatest Sportsman

According to national media, in 1994 Kim Jong Il shot a record-breaking round of golf in which he achieved 11 holes-in-one, and a total score of 38 - by far the greatest score in history. And it was his first try, having never before played the game. No other media organisation reported the news, however…

He Could Control The Weather

According to reports the former leader spread rumours that he could make it rain on demand, depending on his mood.

He Kidnapped Two Directors To Remake Godzilla

Kim Jong Il loved movies - he had a collection of more than 20,000 - and his 1973 book 'On The Art Of Cinema' became a manual for North Korean directors. Disappointed with their work, however, he took matters into his own hands. No, he didn't direct a film himself, as far as we know. Instead he kidnapped two respected South Korean directors in 1978 (Shin Sang Ok and Choi Eun Hee) and forced them to remake Godzilla. Their movie, Pulgasari, only emerged after the couple were forced to remarry in 1983 having spent years inside labour camps. They eventually escaped on a trip to Vienna, where they fled to the US embassy in 1986.

He Was Suspected Of Killing His Brother At Age Five

Kim's younger brother Kim Shu-ra drowned in the family's swimming pool in a mansion in Pyongyang when he was five. Soviet reports claimed that the young future leader might have been responsible for the incident.

He Drank $700k Worth Of Cognac A Year

According to a study a few years ago by Dr. Jerold Post, a former CIA psychologist, Kim Jong Il loved Hennessey cognac - which sells for around $630 a bottle in North Korea, or just under the average annual income ($900). According to the study he averaged around $650,000 to $720,000 of cognac a year.

He Did Not Use Toilets - Because He Didn't Need To

According to an official biography posted on the North Korean state web site, that has since been removed, Kim Jong-il did not defecate.

His Son - And New North Korean leader - Kim Jong Un Is Obsessed With The NBA.

Swiss-educated Kim Jong-un was apparently obsessed with professional basketball and worshipped Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers. Friends who knew him said that he was a "fiercely competitive player" eve though he was also shy and awkward with girls. He was not aggressively anti-American and had photographs of himself with NBA players. No one is sure of when they were taken.

He Considered Himself To Be An Internet Expert

North Korean citizens were not able to freely use mobile phones or the Internet, but Kim considered himself to be a communications expert. "I'm an Internet expert too," he told South Korea's president in 2007. "It's all right to wire the industrial zone only, but there are many problems if other regions of the North are wired."

He Forced Staff To Become Drug Addicts

One of Kim's former staff members wrote a book in which he said that the Dear Leader forced his men to take the same painkillers as him so that he would not be the only one who became addicted after falling off a horse. Thoughtful.

He Ate Donkeys

One of Kim's former chefs reported in 2004 that the leader developed a taste for nice French wine, lobster and donkey meat.

He Had Many, Many Titles

Among Kim Jong Il's official titles were: Shining Star of Paektu Mountain, Guiding Sun Ray, Dear Leader, Great Leader, Respected Leader, Brilliant Leader, Sun of Socialism, The Great Sun of Life, Great Man Who Descended From Heaven, Invicible And Ever-Triumphant General and Highest Incarnation of the Revolutionary Comradely Love.

He Was A Rice Obsessive

According to a nephew of Kim's first wife, Lee Young Nam, the leader had female staff inspect each grain of rice he ate to make sure it adhered to standards of length, weight and colour.

He Invented Hamburgers

North Korean newspaper Minju Joson once reported that Kim Jong Il had invented something called the "double bread with meat" and created factories to produce them in order to feed his students and teachers. Given North Korea's anti-American stance it wasn't politic to admit they were in fact hamburgers.

He Forced Women To Have Cosmetic Surgery

According to one report, Kim forced waitresses at restaurants frequented by foreigners in Pyongyang to have cosmetic surgery in order to appear more "western".

That explains why he was so full of ****.

I guess it's never crossed your mind that people of repressive regimes are forced to do things, like mourn a "dear leader" they cared nothing for?

Oh wait, it's the whole "wilful ignorance" thing you've got going, never mind.

Was watching quite a bit of the coverage on Sky/CNN (insomnia FTL). What amazed me most was the NK reporter with the REAL albeit cheesy forest background. These days it's all big flat screens and green screens.
