I didn't get a notification from Vumatel, but I'll be there. I have a lot of questions for them. They better bring a technical representative with.

SUPER GLAD to see kuilsriver fibre is on the go. I am also in kuilsriver, but on the "wrong" side --- for now (summerville / hagley). I am trying to lobbie a whatsapp group / contact list from HOA in our area to hopefully get VUMATEL awareness by us as well.

It would only make sense for Vumatel to move that way once they are done with Kuils River East side. You can start showing your interest on their map so long and vuma will see the activity even though you guys aren't marked pink yet. Another community member from brantwood is doing the same and racking up the interest in the community while vuma firstly focuses on completing KR East and setting up a network presence in KR

Indeed bro - already started with quite a few submissions of interest shown, on their website.

but WOW..........I see the 100mb Fibre lines are SERIOUSLY WELL priced. ~R1100 / ~R1200 per month for 100mb UP / 10mb DOWN uncapped packages.

The company I currently have my wireless internet with (KAB Technologies out in Milnerton), offers a 10mb uncapped wireless package...for R1127 inc vat. They offer 100mb uncapped FIBRE packages........for??...................R8 less @ R1119 inc vat.

INSANE! and SUPER AWESOME news for Fibre people

UPDATE 25-04-2018
The Town hall meeting was quite informative. It outlined everything a resident needs to know regarding the project from trenching to home installation. Kick-off day is officially on 2 May, but the trenching will only start on 7 May 2018 in Soneike. Kuils River East has been divided into small parts and trenching will take about a month for each area. This can speed up depending on how quickly the municipality can sign off the trenching done. Currently estimates are end of May completion for areas beginning in Soneike (Northern side of KR) until end of August for the Jagtershof area (Southern side of KR)
Weekly email updates will also be sent out by Vumatel starting May. These updates will inform you about trenching times in your area, currently active areas and other relevant info.

Thank you for the update. I missed the meeting due to traffic.

Vuma started digging core holes yesterday alongside Gladioli street in Soneike, as well as some other roads crossing with Gladioli. This photo is in Catfish street crossing with Rooibok and Gladioli at the back. The pink on the right is most probably location for a street box as it sits on the corner of a park. Trenching starts Monday 7 May DSC_1873.jpg

nice one and congrats on getting this far. I remember beginning of this year in Protea Heights when we started seeing "pink" here...the civil guys really work very fast...from the time they started digging till when we were lit were 2-3 months, so you're almost there!!

This is just flipin AWESOME!! I also LOVE the quick completion times..........INSANE and well done to all involved. Hopefully VUMA moves down even more south of Kuilsriver...to Hagley. I'm "rallying the troops" in the meanwhile, to show interest on the VUMA website. Hopefully we pick up steam on our side of Kuila as well...

UPDATE 15-05-2018
The coverage map on first post has been updated/changed back to the google maps overlay (link on post above) indicating the individual areas being worked on and a general ETA. Area 1 is almost complete now(Soneike as a whole was Area 1 initially, but has been divided into smaller parts... See below)
Trenching has commenced in Areas 2 - 5 and they are working at a great pace with a team of 150 construction workers. See below for pictures and a video update of the main road in which trenching has commenced.
