So when your network is congested, then both the bolt on and fat pipe accounts will get shaped the same?

Wouldn't the above mean that your network shouldn't really become congested and therefore there shouldn't be a need to shape? I can understand if it happens now and then as an order may take a bit longer than expected, or am I missing something? :confused:


Thanks for the responses, really great to get some feedback from someone at Vox who seems to really know what they are talking about and who is able to do something about issues which we may experience! :D

I can see where this might lead to confusion; let me rather re-state. We have a subscriber management platform that controls the behavior of subscribers based on several rules and configurations. If you had purchased an unshaped account, then your subscriber name is provisioned with that setting and during times of congestion your session remains unshaped. Now if you had purchased an account which is a shaped account, during times of congestion, that account would be shaped. I did not mean that the entire network was shaped during congestion. I hope this clears things up.

The IPC increase is not an automated one, it's a calculated one. We are warned far before we hit our limits and business decisions are made to increase or not. If we see a spike due to a popular download versus generic traffic requirements, we make those decisions accordingly.

I have to add, I have been with Vox for a few months now (first ISP since getting ADSL) and I am really happy with the product (gig4gig + bolt-on). For R59 a month there is nothing better, and it works very well for what I need.
 
I'm on the unshaped platinum and I have never used excessive amounts of bandwidth. Yet I still see some protocols being shaped. I think the big dl'ers have killed Bolt-on :(

preaching to the choir. the herd has got the Bolton bent over and giving it a good buggering. no disrespect to this rep but im getting half speed most days in peak time. on weekends not even fullspeed. im used to it though. was on openweb. still don't make it right.
 
It's a sad day. I guess all good things come to an end :(

Not that it helps you with your issues but I'm still getting perfect speeds on my 10mb line, no matter the time of day, by far the best package combo I've ever been on
 
Its all protocol dependent. We don't all use the same protocols. You might be getting full speed on the protocols you use yes.

I just tried applying for the G4G package with the uncapped bolt-on with VOX and was told that they have been discontinued as of Monday????? :confused::mad:

From my understanding, originally the FPP + Bolt-On was not supposed to exist ? but users signed up and then they discontinued that but you could still get the bolt-on addon by signing up for a g4g 1GB free account. Now the bolt-on has been discontinued but the original products still available. Just no bolt-on uncapped addon :/.
