Lupus does ; he obviously has the same worry :/
What I mean is that these powerful people push the technology of their choice - what what is the best. Last time, they wiped out an entire technology by packing the inferior product.
What if this time, they back 4k LED as opposed to the better OLED? They'll wipe out production
Of course I was lying about not understanding. The problem is that it is you who sees the truth as conspiracy. Because you need to warp things so much as it's the only way you end up believing yourself anyway.
Don't blame salespeople. There are many honest ones out there. When it comes to TVs, you find them in the dedicated AV stores. One can expect them to have the knowledge. My experience is true of this, in every dedicated AV store I can remember, there were salesmen who advised plasma and preferred it themselves i.e. what they have at home. Or salesmen who wanted to show consumers demos in a test room so that they really get their money's worth.
Blame the people in power who rely on 'dishonest' salespeople to regurgitate mistruths, in order to make those companies more profit. Salespeople getting underpaid who would do everything to sell products that earn them commission so they can get by easier.
Consider the proportion of people shopping at dedicated AV stores, the ones equipped with the best knowledge and advice, the shops you find in your upmarket centres. Perhaps 5% of all consumers, because they're likely to have the money and not be scraping through to make it through the month.
And then consider the proportion of people shopping at Massmart stores, perhaps 90% because everyone's out for a bargain to eke out a living, and the kind of information they're being fed, as well as the experience they're having standing at aisle viewing distance under thousands of watts of lighting. As well as TVs set to torch mode (high brightness/contrast). Who lives like this? Whose TV rooms are like this?
No ones'.
Then consider now that 90% of consumers who have experienced these "amazing bright crisp LED TVs" which are "brighter and much better than plasma" and even "better than LCD", now talk to their friends, family, the internet... Suddenly you have 90% of false information up against 5 - 10% of true information. But because the 90% have got more voices, more unknowing people believe them...
And there sit the enthusiasts, who know a thing or two, deeply understand the technologies, have owned many, etc., pulling their hair out because they are outnumbered by lies.
Massmart stores are the fast food stores of the retail world. Would you trust someone who sells fast food or who frequents their restaurants when it comes to food and cooking?
Of course you wouldn't. Yet you have no problem doing it when it comes to TVs.
You are an educated man, Dolby. You disappoint me so much.
