LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

Maybe, I just had a quick look. It also could have just been the store I was at, here in PE.

EDIT: 720P isn't that bad :p

Just popped into the local, PS51D490 @R8999 and the PS51D450 @ R7699

Not great prices IMHO, Hypermarket were offering the PS51D450 at R6500 the other day

It just shows how serious I am in not investing or taking the least risk of becoming instantly obsolete if I spend so much money, I'd rather spend double and get staying power from my investment.

I also stay in Durban, so I do not need a heater in Winter and Definitely not one in Summer either. :D

Ok, no offence, but what you are saying has been historically proven to be untrue. In "fact" you would be doing the opposite of your stated intention. This $10000 OLED is "bleeding edge" technology. It, in fact, will more than likely be proven "obsolete" by advancements in its own technology, and with a price reduction to boot. In other words, spend $10000 today, in a years time spend $7000 for a bigger and better picture.

I also note your attacks on Postmanpot again. With no provocation that I can see - other than him supporting his opinion with what seems to be educated research. If I was to act like you, I would say you just "belittled" my purchase by intimating it will be "instantly obsolete". I trust you get what I am saying. Oh yes, Wily-me is also being extremely emotive. Not sure why.

I may be a relatively new member here, but I detest this ganging up on Postman, and the inflammatory comments. He may be passionate about what he believes in, but it is at least able to be (largely) substantiated.

But to summarise - I am a "fanboi" - of my wallet. I will purchase the best product available, with my desired requirements, at the best price available. I'm sorry if it seems to upset people that it is actually a plasma screen at the moment. When OLED comes of age, plasma will be discarded. Why can people not see this?

Cry me a river, being new you do not really know PP and his repetitive gibberish and attacks on any member that dare give comments in the TV section that does not suit his own personal emotions about his TV principles. So no emotions here buddy, just someone that is totally p'eed off with the same repetitive PP posts. PP is the type of person that attacks a member because he selected another purchase other than what he suggested. He denies it but I remember it very well as I took him up on it. He also later would argue differently and play ignorant about his previous "recommendations" when it comes back to bite him. ;). Anyway I respect his vigor and willingness to help but detest his arrogance and continued arguing with everyone that differs in opinion.

Look, once again I can only comment on what I have seen here fairly recently. So, I grant you that I do not know the reasons why you, and Mr Bee, are so aggressive towards him in the posts I have seen. But, in the contexts of the posts I have viewed, you two are guilty of hypocrisy of the highest order.

But, having said that, if someone has bought something, so be it, and good luck to them. Again though, all I have seen here (once again - with reference to my limited experience here) are attacks on plasma technology and then rather ironical hysteria if someone should dare to do the same against LCD tech.

Link me to relevant threads please. It might sound trite, but I believe I am actually quite objective.

List who I've attacked and which recommendations came back to bite me.

You're lying, this is emotional garbage of the highest order.

What would you use the TV for?

Your old one is worth about R1,500.

Is there any possibility this thread could focus on LCD & Plasma bargains rather than serve as a platform for these petty personal feuds?

Yes, file format is not that important, usually .mkv or .mp4 .The 3D encoding scheme is what you should be looking out for, most popular is SBS (or side-by-side) which is supported by all 3D TVs.

Will use it mainly for my PC (Work & Series), TV (SD DSTV) and PS3/Xbox.
