Well the point is standard for AV may not be as good for HDMI. Anyway have you even compared setting (when on the different sources), they could be different.

Take 2 flash drives with media and test both in a dimmed room. :)

E450 has Real Black, a feature from D range higher end plasmas - could make for significant PQ improvement.

Edit: It seems the E-models have a technology to reduce glare significantly. It also improves black levels too - something I'm sure Postman will enjoy.

I wouldn't even consider the D model if the E model has improved glare reduction.

The glare on the D models was really bad.

I saw a D450 & E450 side by side the other day, and superficially they looked pretty much identical (incl PQ). Didnt get a chance to play around with menus/settings tho.

Seems so. Were they on torch mode? Perhaps the difference will be seen in dimmer conditions? Real Black etc.

Game has it for R7699. Don't they have a match the price policy, or is it only for competitors with walk in facilities (i.e. not online shops)... also, I guess they might argue that theirs comes with extra glasses?

The store in question can be online. It must be within SA, and they must have stock. Online shops tend to not have stock, but phone and check.

They probably would argue that, although what's the cost? R10 per pair? :p
 
Solved the little mystery. Tv has been on 'movie' mode for ages probably. Plasma picture is nice and bright again.

Closest setting to calibration out the box for best mist detailed picture quality. Dims back/cell light for better blacks and black consistency. Sets colours to around 6500K according to movie industry standards.
 
Aaah... cool, finally I understand that one - def need dimmed lights for movie mode on my plasma.
