Let me know how it pans out - I also bought a set on Sunday. The bleed is there, not nearly as bad as yours though - I did set the backlight lower as soon as I switched mine onBut its a noticeable feature. Its seems to be a unavoidable feature of narrow bezel edge lit LED backlighting though...
My god, the manual is crap though, don't you think? Did you get the 32in LCD thrown in for 12999?
Ian
Bought a Sony 40CX520 from Makro yesterday. PQ is impressive but UI and extra features are excellent!
2nd came today, the bleed is still there, if not worse. Those first pics where taken after a bit of tuning in movie mode, I will post pics of the 2nd set tonight.
I did go for the HnH R12999 one with the free 32", im yet to use the 32" as they sold me the wrong bracket. I will give them a little credit where its due though, they made a plan to deliver the new 55" to me in Port Shepstone, and they sent a different bracket (about R200 more) for the 32 at no extra cost.
I think I might just return the lot and wait for the Home and Garden show at the end of the month. Im told there are pretty fantastic deals to be had there.
Here is a good guide with photos and pictures explaining the differences between the various LCD and LED techs. LG has a white LED in its matrix as well for its LED tvs.

If you want the best in picture quality among LED TVs, technically it will have to be one that has full-array back lighting with local dimming.
Hey PP, don't let it get you downIt really saddens me that so many people have bought these types of TVs without really knowing what they got.
Are you happy with the brightness?
Yes I am. Why PP?
Just some info on LG LEDs here - they are using various densities and segments of backlighting LEDs and not edge lighted LEDs.

I've got experience with three KDL46CX520's at three homes, and I noticed lack of brightness with them. Unfortunately I was only really able to fiddle with one of them, and did manage to improve it somewhat - but no where near the LCD brightness I'm used to, with other friends' LCD TVs, and personally my LA32C550 32" and 4 x PC LCDs (TN and IPS). Since I was not able to properly configure the other two, I can't rule out that the one I was able to configure, isn't a dud. The owner also commented on my PS42C450 plasma and that it was brighter. And it's only on about 60% brightness.
That was actually the reason I went for the LA46D550 from Samsung, the brightness on the Sony's were just off, also the R1000 difference in price ;-).
techead srsly now how long have you been harping on like that? You contribute absolutely nothing here besides "+1" and "this" on mostly negative comments that seek to police and suppress discussion. Add in a few "grow a pairs". That behaviour is part of the problem, rather zip it if you constantly have leas than 5 words to utter.
P.S. how's your plazzie?
Get over it. Find deals. Stop turning every thread into a 30 page argument.
you addressed me personally, publicly, so I felt I would oblige with a personal, public response.
Unfortunately I have to add it here , since you got the other thread closed/locked (again).
I really used to enjoy this part of the forum. I used to keep open a tab, you know, just to "hang out". I don't anymore. You wanna know why? Because of you. Everyday there was a thread with you bitching and moaning about plasma vs lcd. It was amusing at first, but it quickly got tired. Judging by other people's responses and reactions (and PM's) I was not the only one. I made a decision to leave this section of the forum behind as I figured, "if you dont have something nice to say, then dont say anything at all."
I'm all for helping people making informed decisions, but your incessant nagging attitude leaves a bitter taste in peoples mouths. I know you mean well, but seriously, there is a search function where people can read the hundreds of closed/locked "LCD vs Plasma" threads. You dont need to cover it each and every time.
There are very few people in the world like you who lie away at night regretting their LCD vs Plasma purchase.
The latest victim? A thread created by Subways81 specifically for specials/deals. Didnt have many specials.
So you must decide. Either take this personally, or you can "grow a pair" and...
