hi, please help
i can get a 47" LED Infinia LE7500 100Hz for R7000
there is only one in stock - it is the demo model
it is a 2010 model

it is in the middle of this page

this is prob the best priced unit i've ever seen, should i take it or wait a few months?
its got 4x HDMIs' ,vga, DVI, all the bells and whistles

i'll be using it for Xbox, PS3 potentially, Blu Ray Movies, not sport since im not planning to get DSTV soon, series via DVI cable from PC

ive waited years for a TV, i thought id wait for a 40" LED at R6000, but now i can get a 47" @ R7000... what you think?

my TV will be set up next to a closed curtain with minimal light in the evenings, and not a lot of lighting in the day

Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. I hate LG though but R7k for a 47" led is decent in my books.

thanks, if i cover myself with an additional 3 year warranty for R650, that would maybe make up for the fact that its an LG?
its just the glare/glossiness thats apparent with this unit...
 
Game is currently advertising Samsung UA40D5003 and UA40D5000 for R4999. I just want a TV (DSTV, full HD, maybe the occasional movie off the net or DVD) not something for gaming.

Does anyone know the difference between the 5000 and 5003? A quick check at the specs suggests the 5003 has a cheaper panel and loses wireless networking. This seems like a pretty reasonable price for a 40" LED though Game is not my favourite shop (the nearest big one in PE has a take it or leave it attitude). HiFi Corp by comparison lists the 40D5000 at R7999.

I'm wondering if the 5000 price at Game is an error in the catalogue since it only shows the Samsung logo not the actual TV.
 
The UA40D5003 also only has one HDMI input, I would stay away, especially if you can get the better 5000 model for the same price. R5k for this TV is a very good deal. Print out the webpage and take it along, if the price in store is different, make a scene and you should be able to get it at the online advertised price.
 
jxharding: Sounds like a good deal. LG brand shouldn't worry you, also they generally have poorer black levels. Because of your dim room, I would be a bit concerned about the black levels of that LG LCD, compared to equivalent Samsung and Sony LCDs. In a dim room, it's easy to spot a better black level.

Don't forget about the Samsung PS51D550 FHD 3D plasma is going for around R8.2k at FDW - suits dim rooms.

We need to know a little more about your setup, unless you're set on LCD and have worked out plasma isn't for you (suits TV, movies, DVDs, series etc).

If you're set on LCD, then definitely stay away from the diluted 5003 and other models with 1 x HDMI. This is the giveaway. These TVs also have no HD media players.

It's the 5003 that is on sale, bought one. For the price it's okay, sure it only has one HDMI port, no media player or Internet connection, for that I use a Samsung DB5300 Blu-ray player that has media player and Internet, the Blu-ray player is plugged into a router that connects to a AP, works very nicely with the Internet.

I started out on page one and then started skipping 5 pages - then 10 - then 20 - then to the end!! I found a few good posts related to my need - but those may have been in the last 4 months...

My choices are either Samsung or Sony. Budget - around 13k max.
I'm super stuck between the Samsung Plasma PD550 for around 8.1k (Foto Discount World), Samsung 46" LED D6600 for 13k or the Samsung 46" LED D6000 for around 11k.

Sony - 46EX520 (10k from Dion Wired)
Sony - 46EX720 (+- 13.5k)

My lounge is not massive - and I probably have around 3m of viewing space from the couch to the cabinet. My viewing requirements are fairly broad: DSTV HD and SD channels (im big on football), PS3 gaming, PS3 movie/series streaming from my PC.

A fair amount of lighting during the day.

What would my best bet be?
Ideally - I would want to get away with the cheapest option, but really don't want to land up with a TV im not happy with...

Apologies if this has been discussed to death - but unfortunately, I don't have the time to run through all the pages on this thread...

Any assistance, advice and opinions would be much appreciated.

If daylight is a problem then probably UA46D6000.

Just to add for the extra money the D6600 adds 400Hz CMR motion processing (D6000 only 200Hz), full 1080p per eye 3D (D6000 only 540p upscaled to 1080p), 2D->3D conversion, built in WiFi, and Web browser & Skype SmartTV apps.

The 55LE7500 is 3D so check if this might also be. Good TV, has bluetooth for playing songs from cellphone to TV (which is great if the tv output is connected to a hifi/home theater.

If the specs are almost the same as the 55LE7500 then I'd say grab it.
