Sorry Spectrum, pity Samsung SA doesn't have that model on their website. I don't really know the Sony but when I was reviewing TVs to purchase this one was really nice. You can't go wrong.

Hi TVR,
The C750! Now thats a new thought.
I was only looking at LED illumination but my budget does not stretch to the top end, so the 6900 looked good to me (Hilton, its in their brochure but not the website) .
I am not really sold on 3DTV because I think it is a gimmick at present with a LOOOOOOOng development life ahead. So 3D is just a nice-to-have IMHO
However, to see it in 2D would be the clincher. How does the set cope with SD analogue or any other 2D inputs? Also with upscaling 720 Tv broadcasts?

Nope, same here, was definitely not looking for 3D ... just an added bonus. Go read my thread (link two posts up) ... I am very picky about picture quality, once returned a R30K set and paid in to get the KURO ....

Go for the Sony 32EX400 its Full HD (1080p), whereas the other two are only 720p.
GAME have it for R4500, R500 cheaper than Makro.

Well, I went in yesterday to Game to get the 32". The wife (nogal!) decided she preferred the 40" EX400 for R6 800 which we got, plus a dual view PVR which I then spent a bit of time installing. Got up this morning, switched on the new TV to see a Makro ad that you can get the Sony 40 for something like R7 800 with PVR. I can't find anything on the Makro web site but it may be worth while checking out if you're ready to join the 21st century of TV like me. It was a significant saving over what I paid the day before but the boerewors always bends that way.

Take it back for a refund and then buy the new one at that price.

bbill, if you want to take it back, just say it is "Unsuitable".
They will accept that.

TVR, I think I am going for that Samsung C750. The prices which I see everywhere are all over R20000 for it down here. Now I just have to get it to Cape Town in an undamaged condition.
There seems to be so much unhappiness with LEDs which show "flash-lighting" or " cloudiness" that I guess the LED technology still needs some sorting out. Will accept another 20/30 mm thickness to the set, if it sorts out that prob.
So C750 at R16999 looks like it.
Wish me luck.

BuffaloB, either call Makro and complain with an angry voice, or if it fails then you can blame the wife.

actually you might not have to take it back

Found it cheaper? We beat any price!
We will not be undersold! - If you've purchased any item from Game and, within 21 days, find the identical product at a competitor for less, tell us and we will refund MORE than the difference.

If you intend purchasing from Game and find the identical item at a competitor for less at the same time, tell us and we will BEAT that price.

• The Price Beat does not apply to new store openings, display or damaged stock.
• The competitor in question must be in-stock of that identical item.
• The competitor must be a legitimate South African retailer, then the price must include cost of delivery
• The price beat does not apply to foreign stores, including foreign online stores.

so just take your proof of purchase and the makro price if u can and they should give you a refund on the difference plus a little extra

Get the Samsung 42" plasma from Game. Going for R5800. Better suited for SD and sport. I have one and love it, as do many others.

i wanted to follow the same route, rather get the Samsung Plasma for R5800, for SD, TV and sports it will work like a dream, eveyone here knows Plasma is better than LCD when it comes to SD, Sports and TV

Are there any LCD/Plasmas that are decent/modern and don't have a tv tuner?

Any issue with the 40" Samsung (LA40C530) at Game for R6999.00

A friend wants to buy it and is asking me for recommedations - I don't own a TV, so don't really know if this is a good deal or not - seems like it though for a 40".
Though personally, I'd be more keen on the 50" Samsung Plasma (PS50C430) for R8999.00- his budget is R10k.

Depends what the TV is going to be used for?

And I've seen the 50C430 floating around the R7999 mark.

I tested that set and was not happy, though you might want to chat to MartyMarts, as he bought one and is happy with it.
