Noticed STAX is offering the PS50C550 for R9999 in their latest flyer, probably final stock clearence. Maybe better for bright rooms than a D550, but I read the C is quite a 'buzzer'.

I think the 50C550 will be MUCH better in ANY room with regards to reflections :) Not sure what the picture quality and IR differences are.

The 50C550 that I watched definitely had a buzz... not sure if it was louder than the 51D550 that I had, which also had a noticeable buzz.

the other deals they had were not that special
most ive seen before on special for the same price, some even cheaper like the karcher for 899, i saw it for 800 once

Wrong... Imagine you own the store, would you rather sell 2 TVs and make a profit of R500 each or sell 6 TVs and make R200 each. Of course you will want to sell 6 at R600 profit each. Of course this will only work if you have exposure and if people find out about your offer.

And that's how Walwart operates, much more so than Game. They have huge exposure, large marketing campaings with many specials. So expect more of these deals in the future.

Finally, these prices are competitive with European prices for TVs :D

Where is the 40" for R4999? I think the Makro special ended today, though I dunno if a new one has started??

I would assume the media player is the same as in my 5 Series Samsung LCD. That one is very good (avi, divx, mkv...), however I'm not sure if it lets you output 5.1 sound via SP-DIF. Not sure if that's an issue for you, if you want to know I can test it.
