Just thought I'd update you guys; the Samsung PS50C450 50" plasma was delivered today and it's awesome 
. The clarity and colours are beautiful, there's nothing like watching animé in HD 
(I'm currently watching Eureka Seven). I never thought the USB media player would be so powerful, it has basically just eliminated the need for me to buy a media8ter (I'm gonna need a large usb flash drive so I don't need to keep exchanging data between my computer) and since it has an optical out my 5.1 HD anime and movies wont go to waste when I get enough money to buy a good surround system.
But there are some cons to this and probably other Samsung ranges of this size (but this should not be a deterrent from buying just something you might have to prepare for):
The installation of the TV stand was not really user friendly, a couple of screws did not want to go in directly so I needed to insert them in a angle and screw them in.
The "neck" connecting from the base of the the tv stand to the tv is made out of plastic, very tough plastic or maybe it's not plastic but the outer cover is. I just found it strange since the other two flat screen tv's in my household have this "neck" part made out of steel.
Probably the thing you have to be aware of is that there is only one "neck" from the base to the tv, when I'm use to two necks. The whole one neck thing seems to be on all Samsung models and it all seems great but I don't when come to TV's of 42" and up I think it's bad, as the TV can be induced to shacking. I saw it shake at the TV shop as the salesperson turned around to check the connections, but I thought he was just been a bit careless.
Anyway I've planned to do a bit of DIY to stop it being induced to shacking, especially to prevent anyone bumping the entertainment stand and thus shaking the TV. I'm gonna use the the screw sockets at the back which are usually reserved for mounting the TV to a wall, some L hooks (or that's what I think they are called) and fishing wire/line. Don't know where I can get fishing line, is there any other type of wire material which is strong or even stronger then fishing wire and hopefully clear/transparent as well which is available at a hardware store?
