LCD's for gaming

Right, I have done some research on the interwebs and I still haven't reached a conclusion so I though I would throw this out to you "intelligent" folks out there...

1) Are there any disadvantages to gaming on a LCD as opposed to a CRT?

2) Is it really worth forking out the extra R600-R700 bucks for a 22'?
 
Yes...much easier to go to a LAN without needing to carry 5kg's around...

Yes and Yes
 
Easier on the eyes (LCD), looks better (LCD), lighter(LCD), higher resolution(LCD), fit more things on the screen for office work etc(LCD), no need to adjust the damn thing after every resolution change(LCD), chows less power (LCD), can fit into smaller space(LCD)

The list goes on :p

As for disadvantages of lcd...price, easier to crack, dead/stuck pixels.

How many shops even sell CRT monitors nowadays? hmmm...just go mainstream :p
 
cool, i think this xmas I will be spoiling myself with one the classics "To me from ME" :D
 
Going from crt to lcd is amazing, the colour difference between the 2 is insane.

Once you go LCD you never go back :). Samsung 22" if your going for a 22".
 
Actually the Samsung monitors are the best on the market and any other brand remotely similar is a lot more expensive...

You can get a 2253GW (probably the best monitor on the market) for R2299 at PC Zone...

Samsung are about the cheapest brand out there on 22" for the quality you get, sure you can buy an acer for cheaper but for 100-200 bucks i more i would rather have the quality samsung delivers.
 
...one with low GTG (Response Time), definitely allot better than crt. 16:9 over 4:3 any day, which is also great for designing :)
 
2253GW, dont get it... I've got it and ITS MINE... I dont like it when everyone has the same stuff I have :P

Pc zone doesn't have any 2253's in stock :( Been phoning them for the past week and they keep on changing the expectancy date...how can they not know when they're getting stock in? Sorry for the slight derail but i think your questions been answered :D
