Let's talk about Sci-Fi movies

I know I'm a fan of almost everything sci-fi but really liked the Men in Black franchise. The 3rd one with time travel was fantastic...sci-fitastic.

I'm also looking forward to what the next Tom Cruise science fiction will be. From War of the world's which was great but not that great, to oblivion which was 1000 times better, to Edge of tomorrow which was 10000 times better than oblivion. I could not imagine the awesomeness of what comes next. But judging by all the movies released so far, I'm guessing it either has aliens or has references to aliens, similar to oblivion, (I don't know if you can call a giant triangle an alien? )
 
2 movies I really enjoyed a while back was Gattaca and Existenz. I think they both had Jude Law in them.

A really stupid movie I watched recently was called upside down. Watched it in the plane and the entire concept was entirely ridiculous from the beginning

I actually enjoyed the whole lot of the alien movies and the predator ones. Also the combos were good for a laugh.

I love ACC, think I read most of his books. You could see he was a scientist first & then a writer.

There were rumours of putting the Rama series to film but I suspect it would fail as each book would need to be at least 3hrs on film minimum, might work better as a series but who do you sell this to? It would be a financial flop.

Yeah, I hear you. The man was inspiring and being an accomplished scientist first made him all the more respected.

So I would like to see ACC, Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov and Jules Verne movies redone. I do feel there is adequate CGI to bring those to life but as always in the movie business, populism will trump concepts and so we will be disappointed

Another writer I would like to see movies for is Ray Bradbury.

The industry has this tendency to steal ideas from ACC and Philip K. Dick without giving due credit.
