I am confused. The LG G3 seems to be about R1000 to R2000 cheaper than the Galaxy S5 if you buy it for cash but it is more expensive than the S5 on contract.

Yup, all top end phones around R500pm now on launch. Sucks but my M8 is worth it.

No, sounds like it is going to be very close to the S5 on contract though the only pricing mentioned was, "It is expected to have a recommended retail price of R8,754 and will be available for R499 on a Vodacom uChoose Flexi 200 contract."

My interpretation of contract vs cash pricing not making sense; well it all depends on what kind of negotiation goes on behind closed doors between the cellular networks and the cell phone manufacturers. It's not likely to make sense to us poor plebs not privy to that info. I would imagine cash prices are more indicative of how the different smart phones weigh up against each other, but even then even that is subject to desired profit margins.

Never thought I'd ever be the owner of an LG phone but that might very well change.

Sony, LG, Huawei and HTC are giving us some really nice Android phones to choose from.
Why anyone would buy an S5 over a Z2, G3, One (M8) or P7 is beyond me.

Samsung should be worried, very worried.

ADH warranty.

HTC offers something similar. At least in other countries, not sure about SA.

Personally I've never used any of this, I tend to take care of my super expensive, super-fragile electronic equipment but who knows, maybe one day I'll wish I had it.

The S5 size is nice, if you don't want such a big phone. Also if you are are coming from an S3 or S4, then an S5 takes no getting used to if you want to hit the ground running. I went from an S3 to a Sony Z2 and I prefer the way Samsung does things on their phones. S5 is a decent phone (despite being a bit plain looking) and of course it comes down to personal preference.

HTC do not offer this in SA, yet. They say they are working on it though. A new company has taken them over in SA.
