only gave it to my connection over the weekend and was handed it on Monday, so no news as yet.... will report here once I get it back
So yesterday the wife's phone went into bootloop. Sigh. It's still under contract with MTN. Do I take it back to them or just hand it in at an iFix (weFix?) for repairs. And how much is this going to cost me?

Im stuck on 509 serial and just waiting for it to happen
So far no signs of it.
Battery life is *** though. I really want a phone with a better battery... even bought a spare and any heavy use drains it.

My G4 started the bootloop just now!!! FFS!! 
This seems to affect all G4's at some time or another? WTF did LG think? They should have recalled the flippen phone.
Mine was bought via FNB Connect. I guess its under 2 year warranty and I take it back to them?

I'm just glad the problem seems to surface whilst still in warranty - Imagine if warranty was only 1 year and all failed when just out of warranty
This has not been a very pleasant experience for me and I doubt if I will buy LG again....

Same here. I have lost a lot of faith in LG now.
How long does the LG service centres take to repair/replace?
Once my phone is fixed I will sell it before the warranty ends. Not going to gamble and keep this phone beyond 2 years. Hell no.

Problem is, they're worth very little as everyone knows about the problems. In my opinion, it's worth keeping as a decent spare phone rather than offloading for small money. I gave mine to my Dad after it was repaired.Same here. I have lost a lot of faith in LG now.

Could swear mine uses almost 2 full charges a day, thank goodness for Quick charge 2 chargers.
I'm seriously thinking of getting a Samsung Note 4, I miss my Note 3.
I will definitely not be buying LG again! Wife did not want to sit without a phone so got her something else. Will keep the G4 as a spare.
I totally agree. They should have recalled the affected batch.
Problem is there is a good chance that all photos/videos on the phone will be lost. The guy said they will try to recover, but this will cost me extra (R250)

Next time, store all that kind of media to SD card from camera settings and use any number of cloud backup's to back everything up when connected to wifi. Between that and auto call log/text backups to cloud, google backing contacts and calendar events and apps, Whatsapp doing nightly backups, there's really no reason to loose any data what so ever with today's Android phone.
The pics were being synced to the cloud at night, but for some reason this app failed to sync stuff for the past month. Only realized this when I checked what was backed up.
Ouch, that sucks!
got. my G4 back on Saturday - ser no 609, so seems like latest - will see if battery has improved

I phoned FNB smart devices to log the call for replacement/repair two Friday's ago. They promised me that LG will phone me to arrange pick up of the phone. This is now two weeks later and NADA. I have complained to FNB a few times already. They just keep on saying they will contact LG and escalate but nothing happens. DAFAQ?!!
I feel like throwing a social media tantrum to get some attention. FNB Facebook page or LG SA FB page? Both?

Why you bothering with fnb? Can't you just take it to an LG repair centre like everyone else did?
That's why I hated it, use it and battery dies.As cool as this phone is. I hate it. 2hr onscreen time, 50% brightness, no location, WiFi only and down to 40%
Yeah its ridiculous. I can actually watch the % drop by the minute when i use it. Oh and this is on a brand new battery as well.
Sh#t phone, cant wait to sell it and buy something decent.
