LG Nexus 5X

I don't see any way that the 6P will be under 7k. I paid more for my 5X.
Btw, did any of you get insurance on your phones?

I just received my case, this is what I chose.
Question, have you noticed issues with the audio during a call? The cut-out for the mic on the bottom between the 3.5mm jack and the usb plug is missing, so the mic is covered. Guess I will have to fix that.

True, but on the Google Nexus 6, a few months after it was released they had a massive price drop, almost by about 4K (if I remember correctly if was dropped from over $600 to around $299), if not more. Will probably have to wait and see what happens.
 
FFFUUUUUU... That's insanity. Did Orange store also see those price drops, or only the US?

Only noticed that now that you mention it. I have not had any complains from callers. So I guess the rest of the microphones must be picking up the slack.

I think it is only in the US, but still, they should be importing from there.

On eBay you can buy the Nexus 6 XT1103 anywhere from R3600 to R4700, brand new. But, the average price is around R4.4K.

Ok so Orange has 180 32GB 5X's. Lets see how long that lasts.
 
Got it, loving it. The fingerprint sensor is in a weird place for me but I guess I'll get used to it. Any good local sources for USBC cables and/or USBC-USBA adapters?
 
Received my cable on Friday and it is working like a charm. Had to first search where to enable file transfer as by default it is charge only .
 
So I guess I'll be ordering a couple of those cables. Forgot my charger at work on Friday, and obviously no-one in Montana has ever even seen a Type-C cable, much less stock them. So Saturday at round 20:00 my phone finally decided it's had enough. Must say, I didn't expect the battery to last quite as long as it did, although I did switch it off during the night on Friday and had it in power saving mode for Saturday, but still, almost as good as Sony's battery life.
 
For those who were wondering, iStore sells Type-C to female Type-A cables, for something stupid like R370 (then you still need a Type-A male to male cable).

Cablekiosk it is then...
 
Attempted my first "sideload" of an OTA ZIP file last night. Worked like a charm. Now only one version behind the latest available.
 
Regarding the review, fairly detailed and very interesting. Some cool features hidden in the phone I never knew about, so thanks for that.

I received my first OTA update last night, it just kinda showed up as a pleasantly unexpected surprise.

I got tired of waiting for the OTA so I did it myself. Guess I should have been more patient. Now we have to wait for MDB08M.
 
Well, there's the mention of the ability to use the 5X as a powerbank of sorts, not sure why anyone would want to, but you can- apparently. It's something I didn't know about, so to me was a 'hidden' feature.

Some of the stuff he mentions about the HDR+ photo's is also news to me. All in all I found the article very interesting and informative.
 
So...

This just happened...

Seems Google made some magic with the dialer/contacts app. We ordered take-aways from Ed's Diner in Centurion (just want to say their service is next level!) and I somehow managed to forget a part of my order when I left. So the manager rings me up and enquires about it. He tells me he'll give me the order next time we go there for lunch (this is the awesome part, most managers/staff would have just left it and the food would have gone elsewhere and I would be out of pocket- my own stupidity but still...).

So this is where it got interesting. The Nexus served up the restaurant name, number and other details when the call came through- and I double checked, I don't have any sort of business card or contact saved for them. Seems they must have a busniness directory or something that they query- I assume it's part of Google Now integration.

Just a bit of useless info, but it's very convenient, and a bit surprising. :D
