LG Nexus 5X

So...

This just happened...

Seems Google made some magic with the dialer/contacts app. We ordered take-aways from Ed's Diner in Centurion (just want to say their service is next level!) and I somehow managed to forget a part of my order when I left. So the manager rings me up and enquires about it. He tells me he'll give me the order next time we go there for lunch (this is the awesome part, most managers/staff would have just left it and the food would have gone elsewhere and I would be out of pocket- my own stupidity but still...).

So this is where it got interesting. The Nexus served up the restaurant name, number and other details when the call came through- and I double checked, I don't have any sort of business card or contact saved for them. Seems they must have a busniness directory or something that they query- I assume it's part of Google Now integration.

Just a bit of useless info, but it's very convenient, and a bit surprising. :D
After reading "this just happened" I was expecting to read about the device spontaneously combusting or changing colour like one of those old toy cars.

Nothing that sinister :p
(or I guess that depends on you view of online privacy- or lack thereof)

Yep, its been like that for a long while now on the Google Dialer. Very very useful.

Cool feature, but they have had it for a while now.

Well I certainly hope it only applies to business and doesn't list your son/daughter's last report card.

Is an awesome feature, you can even 'search' for numbers in the dialer by just typing the name of the place you're looking for.

Well I have had my phone for a few weeks now and I am very happy with the purchase. It is perfect for my light use and meets all my Android needs. Next I am going to try a factory image install to see how that works (will have to configure the phone from scratch though).

Have you unlocked/rooted yet?
Are there any drm key issues like some other brands (Sony comes to mind)?

Well, from what I've read, if you do not back up the DRM keys and unlock / root. You can lose those permanently. Haven't tried my Z2 tablet so wouldn't know.

Guys who already have the 5X, what kind of screen on time are you getting?

Not sure how to check that, but my screen is currently showing 6% , battery on 62% with approx. 15h left.

If you click on the screen percentage, it will tell you.

Also do you guys mind posting screenshots of your battery usage.

Not looking at rooting. Just installing the factory image. Managed to get it done last night. You have to allow bootloader unlocking and then unlock the bootloader. Once done you can easily flash the factory image and then lock the bootloader afterwards. I am now on MDB08M.

Hey there. Sorry that I just seem to want to jump into this thread and advertise, but knowing how difficult it is to get accessories for these phones I thought I'd share that I have some up for sale. After having such a great time with the Previous N5 I was so close to get the N5X, but in the end I decided on the Z5 Compact. I still miss it though...

Anyway hope you guys enjoy your phones and if interested please drop me a PM. I know a naked phone feels better but due to the lack of local support, protection is quite a necessity on these phones.
