Is there anyway to limit the amount of bandwidth available to a client on one of those mega 100wr modems? Reason i ask is my sister is often on the internet playing those stupid online games, which dont require alot of bandwidth to play, yet her pc always seems to dominate the internet and im left sitting in the dark waiting for hours for a stupid video to buffer...

Anyway to fix my problem (by giving my computer precedence and priority)?

I'd suggest upgrading your line speed. The extra cost is more than worth the convenience and harmony you'll be gaining in the home. 384k is hardly adequate for 2 people to share, and definitely not for online gaming and streaming at the same time. Splitting 384k won't solve your problem. It will just make you both equally frustrated. Rather work out some kind of schedule until you can get your line speed upgraded.

does your router not support QoS ?

i do this on my netgear just prioritize traffic to the mac addresses

QoS was exactly what i was looking for, thanks...

But on a side note i cant seem to get it set up, but its fine, as im only really using the internet late night and on weekends as im at varsity from 07:00 to 19:00 everyday

Would love to upgrade to 4 meg but it just isnt worth it as im never home and im the only one who would utilize it

btw when i said online games i meant sites like www.king.com

yea most def QoS is what you'll be looking for, most of the time you gotta put he computers mac address in and limmit the bandwidth, if not all i do at home is use ACL (Access control List) and when im sick of the gf using bandwidth for fb and so on, just block the mac address and give her some bs story why he laptop wont connect... lol!

Haha ive done something similar before... just unplugged the lan cable from her pc... she didnt even realize... just thought it was broken... haha the technologically inept
