Hi Guys,

Please could you assist?

I really don't know where else to turn to.

A week ago my modem was fried by lighting, replaced it, and the new one worked perfectly.

Two days later the line started disconnecting, rebooted the modem and it started to sync at around 1344, which is not even close to the 4meg.

Called Telkom and they have tested the line and according to them all is in order, MWEB have told me the same thing.

I am using a Netgear N300 wireless router. The thing is that all was fine until a few days ago.

Not sure what to do.

Please guys help a brother out.

Current stats:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1376 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 44.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 6.5 db 6.0 db

try another router , some netgear's is just crap.

Had n600 that could not even sync 2mb , plug in another modem and it synced fine.

Thanks Brother, will give that a go.

Shall post the results once done.

So i got a dlink router, it seems as if there is no difference.

Any specific settings that i should have?

Have you tried with nothing apart from your router connected (no filter no phone nothing just router) ??

Yep just did and there is no change.

Bloody thing is driving me mad now

Unfortunately i do not have land line phone.

Spoke to the technician who installed the line and he has tested it and told me everything is perfect.

After the lighting it worked perfectly, suddenly it kept syncing at a lower speed, not its at 1088.

I had a similar issue with my line and I was told to downgrade because Telkom were not going to fix it so I have but my attenuation is now sitting at 54 downstream and 29 upstream and every fault I log they close saying my line is perfect but I DC at least 3 times a day and then have to reboot my router.

I am going to continue fighting with them in the new year but dont expect to have anything fixed soon...
