this band was a generic band, something that was purposefully radio friendly

I had the same feeling this morning. I have their music on a CD in my car, and when I got in the car, "Chasing the sun" was on. It was never one of my favorites, but this morning it sounded better somehow.

Agreed. Meteora was the very first CD I ever bought - I'm not really a music listener, but I had that album on repeat, and fell asleep to it almost every night for months. So many songs on that which resonate with me - most of their earlier stuff did.

Pretty sad today, don't even wanna know how the band or his family feels.

Makes the one time I saw him live in JHB all the more special... RIP my man.
 
I knew opening this would piss me off, oh well.

Will always be one of my favorite bands glad i got to see them live still one of the best shows i have seen.

Yea this exactly happened with the death of Chris Cornell. It hit me hard for some reason and I didn't consider myself the most hardcore Soundgarden fan

Another sad day for alternative music then. Had an amazing voice. Admittedly I didn't listen to them much after their first album, so not going to call myself a super fan or anything.

Sadder still is the fact that he's left 6 kids fatherless. Just how bad can things get that you don't even consider the broken lives you're going to leave behind?
