Changes for Linobuntu Version 2

To start of it will be mainly 32bit to start with. If there is a large demand then a 64bit port will be made.

For now the plans are to only support Gnome Desktop.

Linobuntu Version 2 is based on Ubuntu 9.04.

The following applications are included:

Opera 10
Firefox 3.5
Evolution
XPDF
GIMP
Picasa
Google Gadgets
Sun Java
KSnapshot
VLC 1.0
Songbird 1.2
Gtkpod
Gmount Iso
Virtual Box 3.0.4
AMSN
Pidgin
KGet
KFTPGrabber
Qbittorrent
IBM Lotus Symphony
GnuCash
K3B
HP Center
Remastersys
Reconstructor
Full Codec Support out of the box *Such as mp3's etc*

Your choice of menu system. All of them are included by default and can be easily changed by adding the required one to the panel.

Either the default Ubuntu/Gnome
Gnome System Menu
Menu Bar

Also the audio control has been replaced with PulseAudio volume control

For one, the screen shot links don't work :(

Also, I prefer go-openoffice. While xpdf works, I prefer foxit reader, at least then it looks the same in windows and linux.

Next, I know its not bad, but why so many kde applications in a gnome desktop?

k3b -> Xfburn
KFTPGrabber -> FileZilla by far the best + its the same as the windows version
QBittorent -> Deluge is awesome
KSnapshot -> gnome-screenshot

I could come up with more suggestions not sure if I should. The real question is, why mix kde/gnome stuff so much? Why not then just make 1 environment suite it all with everything mixed instead of a seperate gnome/kde one?

The images have been deleted :(

no ubuntu tweak?

You have got to be kidding me with the images:confused: what on earth?

Any ideas where I can upload the screenshots?

No Ubuntu tweak is planned at the moment.

The reason there is a mix of KDE and Gnome applications is that a lot of people like Gnome as the desktop but prefer to use KDE applications.

The system has both KSnapshot and gnome-screenshot, I added Ksnapshot as it has a vast amount of more features than Gnome-Screenshot.

Good idea with Foxit reader, XPDF replaced with Foxit Reader (thank you for the suggestion)

FileZilla was my first option however it gives me endless errors and at times refuses to install.

Edit I think I may have fixed my problems with Filezilla!

I don't really know all that much but what I can say is this, if it works
and i'm sure with the amount of time you put into it that it will, I can't
wait for it because I for one did see the screen shots and it looks great.

For the first time ever, Linobuntu will also have a KDE version as well. However to be used at own risk!

If you're looking for a metacity theme here's one I did....

and this...

Ubuntu Wallpapers - dunno why 2 have white thumbnails, but they DO work if you click on them.

Thank you very very much!:D

Please note the KDE edition will not be as customised as the Gnome edition. This is owed to both time constraints and KDE 4.3.1 does not allow it to be done without giving me errors.

I think I am going to drop the KDE edition, as it is giving me so many problems it is quite unbelievable. Rather stick with gnome which I know actually works.

Can't wait man! Been following your project for a while now.

Some excellent news. Linobuntu Version 2 is

FINISHED, compiled and completed!
