Do not just toss that other drive, like ponder said at least try and get it replaced through your buddy and you then have a spare for whatever. In an enclosure it is small enough to take anywhere.

The way I feel about that drive at the moment I want to dance around in my underwear around a bon fire and sacrificing it to the gods by burning it! But ja...will keep it. Damn..forgot to ask my friend for a enclosure...tnx for reminding me.
 
Yo...nearly blew my lid now. My mom just phoned me and asked if my nephew can load Windows on the laptop with Linux Mint installed that I gave her as a pressie cause he does not understand it. I included the discs...mistake on my part. I sent that laptop down with everything done...firefox and thunderbird (I even setup her gmail account for her) is on the desktop. He just needs to show her how to browse the net and write emails. Said they must do what they want...but the laptop will run a lot slower (its Vista you see) and I wash my hands of that thing if they load Windows. Oh...and I said if that thing gets a windoze virus and she ends up with a R10 000 Vodacom bill I aint interested either.

Not sure..think about 23. I said to my mom...there is nothing to understand. It works almost exactly like Windows anyway. Shame..I think my mom got a bit of a fright. Dont think she knew I was about to bust a nut on the phone lol. I did WhatsApp her after and explained why I got upset. Spent time with that thing to make sure everything is set up and done so that when she gets it it is ready to rock n roll...they just need to show her how to search on google and do emails basically. How hard can that be? :mad:

Mmm, are you patient enough to talk your mom through on the phone? Would be real pity for her to roll windows if all she be doing is internet and email.
 
I take it the laptop came with Vista pre-installed, otherwise you could just said it is illegal and klaar.

Fsck dude just put a couple of big icons on the desktop for email, web etc.

I would kick that nephew in da panty as Voicy says!

Tried that when she first got the laptop. Took me a hour to get her to Wikipedia on Chrome over the phone. I still have a bald spot left over from that episode. Hair taking long to grow back in :mad::p

LOL - dude, I can relate to that - come to think of it, my hair took a long time to grow back as well from doing phone support.
