List of congested exchanges?

Bothasig seems a lot better of note this week, getting 12ms locally throughout the night feels good.

I'll probably know by the weekend if it was temporary.

Bellville North exchange (La Rochelle) is still FUBAR. Some nights we can actually game online, but mostly the line is unusable for all practical purposes.

This really needs to be taken to the next level, this is ridiculous. We pay an obscene monthly fee and then we get a line that is useless due to a congested exchange. And to put the cherry on top the retard in the telkom call centre has the nerve to tell me that 0.7mbps is still an acceptable download speed.

Is that public protector the best way to go with this dilemma ? Everybody that has these issues should report it.

My speeds has been looking good the last couple of days... (Bothasig)

Just confirmed with a telkom technician that the Rondebosch exchange is running at half capacity due to faulty equipment. They have downgraded most users speeds because of this and their ETA on a fix is February 7...

no offense dude, but you cant listen to a telkom technician. they do what they told. there is nothing wrong with equipment, its just capacity that is all...

hmm my cousin is also on this exchange 021 919 xxxx, seems to fine, will let him test tonight.

That broadband stats doesn't actually always reflect the correct exchange. For example, I used to be on Belleville north 4, which has latency issues, really bad, then I ordered a second line which is now on Belleville North 5 which experience 0 issues. That broadband stats report both my numbers to be on the same exchange, yet they are on different DSLAMs. The one experience lag issues, the other doesn't.

Thus point being, you cant go 100% according to that. Trust me, there are at least 3 Belleville North dslam that is congested, with the other 2 being ok.

cool, cousin did not have any lagg last night, hes got 384k line about 2 years now

The Telkom tech just followed up with me now on the fault I logged last week. He admitted that the Bellville exchange is congested as they signing up 3-4 clients up per day in the area and said I need to call help-desk and leave my complaint there. To which I replied, but that was exactly what I did, and then the issue gets forwarded on to the technical department and now you're telling me to phone help desk again. I asked for an ETA on when the exchange will be upgraded but he couldn't tell me.

So do I pay now for something I'm unable to use?? Or should I go to the competition, ah FFS, there is no friggin competition. I'm getting BF3 withdrawal symptoms here, haven't played in 2 weeks :(

Trying to phone telkom for the 4th day in a row, seems like they just ignore a person now.

keep getting reminded that i can sms a fault.

let me know what ISP you using and what sync speed with your noise ratios etc etc

do some pings and tracerouts to www.bbc.co.uk and www.mweb.co.za

install pingplotter and do the same to the above addresses.

try do the above on at least TWO different ISP's or more if you can

email it all to me [email protected]

Tried my ADSL for the first time since December last night - 4mb line still doing average 0.3Mbps.

Followed up this morning with Telkom - my fault number is now unresolved for 6 months. The lady asks me if my cables are all connected.
