Yep, I am currently suffering from an ulcer that is acting up (does it every couple of years even put me in ICU for 5 days once) and I chow chillis to get rid of the symptoms. What doesn't help is drinking. If I have a few beers the pain becomes unbearable. Smoking is also not smart. The old myth of not eating chillis turned out to be wrong, about 7 years ago I had an ulcer and avoided chillis. But a buddy of mine was like no man give it a try and see. The chillis actually soothed it, as it stimulates mucus and alkaline build up.
Oh yeah smoking and drinking aren't good, neither is coffee or milk. Rooibos tea is ok, I've not had an ulcer now in 7 years now. In the past it would flare up every 2 years or so.Yep, I am currently suffering from an ulcer that is acting up (does it every couple of years even put me in ICU for 5 days once) and I chow chillis to get rid of the symptoms. You need to kill the bacteria causing the ulcer, coffee just aggravates the ulcer, basically means it wasn't actually gone.Ulcer disappeared when I was off coffee but then I started drinking 6am lattes again. Guess I’m going back to rooibos tea, sigh.
Not that it’s bad, I just don’t understand why I don’t learn my lesson the first few times.
Yes, I was tested for H. pylori but it came back negative. No idea what’s causing it. I do notice that my gums are inflamed whenever the symptoms are at their worst. You need to kill the bacteria causing the ulcer, coffee just aggravates the ulcer, basically means it wasn't actually gone.

I admit I haven’t changed my diet much. I was looking into it but I think life just got very busy, but I’m going to make that a priority now.H pylori is an organism that causes an infection which results in ulcers getting worse or not healing. You can develop ulcers without it being infected.
Medications can also thin your gastric lining. NSAIDs like aspirin will do this.
You can get ulcers at the entrance of the small intestine as well. Duodenal ulcers. These result because your intestinal fluid is not basic enough to neutralize the stomach acid
If you changed your diet like I told you and done 6 to 12 months on pantoprazole and you still struggling then it's time to book with the gastro
And don't waste your time with a stupid scope make them use the recorder and camera capsule
Eish man.I have a condition called a hiatus hernia. I was diagnosed 8 years ago.
I'm doing much better now days. You just need to manage your condition through diet. I also have a small hiatus hernia, we actually lucky as a larger one will require surgery.Eish man.
After about 9 months of discomfort and failed attempts to treat gastritis - the scope revealed I also have a 'small' haitus hernia and the Gastroenterologist did not recommend surgery.
The Gastroenterologist didn't seem too concerned but he said I should not ignore it and change diet which is bad news for me. No more chocolate, coffee, alcohol, gluten. Basically saps the enjoyment out of food. Although he did say I can cheat a bit with a coffee if I take a PPI. I need to find out more and figure this all out.
The thing is though I don't have any symptoms other than a bit of discomfort between my rib cage area which is pretty much permanent. Sometimes feels a bit worse when hunched or driving on a long trip. Medications don't seem to make a difference so atm I am off them. Before the hernia diagnosis when we thought it was normal gastritis I did full bland diet for a month (so kak) and that didn't improve anything either. I have since started a daily coffee and maybe 1 beer a week and everything still the same.
Feels like I have a physical problem not an acid problem like the meds are trying to treat. I am due to go speak to my GP about it but at this stage I want them to cut me open and put everything back where it belongs.
According to Google like 13-20% of men have this condition?
Thank you for the post which was encouraging. When I think about it and mope, it definitely gets worse..I'm doing much better now days. You just need to manage your condition through diet. I also have a small hiatus hernia, we actually lucky as a larger one will require surgery.
Find out which food triggers the acid reflux and avoid them or eat them in moderation.
Truth is I eat whatever I want but in moderation. I take lansoloc 2 - 3 times per week to cut down the acid.
Wear loose pants, sleep on your left side, eat early 6pm so your food digest better, cut the weight and body fat through exercise and diet it makes a difference. I hardly suffer now days.
Best thing is not to worry as that will stress you out and promote more acid production. Been there stay strong!
Same. The gastroenterologist told me that I need to have surgery to fix the problem.I have a condition called a hiatus hernia. I was diagnosed 8 years ago

I don't want to - I'm scared.
