Load Shedding - the all in one thread

I dont want to rub your noses in it, but I still have to experience this lovely loadshedding thing :D

Last year I bought a Honda 2.5kVa generator for R5k. You can now get them for R2.5k, or a 6kVa Honda generator for R5k. They have AVR and are pretty reliable, compared to some of the Chinese knockoffs that Makro and Builder's Warehouse are flogging these days.
 
Cutter's (Husqvarna) in Maitland (CT) sells Benza generators. Don't know what kind of quality though.

I have a couple of those twin CFL emergency lights up around the house. One in particular lights up the dart board cabinet. My dart game has improved drastically in the last while...
 
Another "gatvol" thread... Eskom Load Shedding

So who else is getting gatvol of the sorry state of our electricity?

I have had three power failures in three days at home, and I am starting to get a little bit peeved now...

Who would be up for an activist site, similiar to MyAdsl, but called MyEskom?

Who is gonna be no-rpm, and who will be Antowatt? ;)
 
where do you stay that they are load shedding already?

I don't see what they could possible be load shedding in the holiday season. It's just a lame excuse, masking some other problem on their side.

As we speak power stations are going up and I have an inside ear that says they are paying quite a premium for round the clock shifts etc to get the building done asap. This brainless whining may make you all feel better but it doesn't change anything.

Im also in Weltevreden park area, an area Po-eskom decides prime real estate to cut off the power at highly regular intervals for exhorbatent time frames:mad:
Now i like my jaccuzzi for aboot half hour afore i get ready to go to work, this morning not only could i not do that but i had ta jump over my wall ta get out the yard,, and my wall is no small feat:mad:

IM SO SICK OF ESSSSSSSSSSSKOM I COULD BITE THEM:eek::mad::mad:

But sorry to hear about your issues.

There are certain gate motors which runs from a 12v battery - so the gate can still open and close even though the mains power is off.
