Load Shedding - the all in one thread

I don't know about East London but in West Coast they will be load shedding from 4 - 7.

Bastards!!!

Do you know why we have these shortages????

Bad planning!

Do you know till when we'll have these shortages????

+/- 2015

more like 2115:o

Same in East London
Took Son to Varsity Grahamstown. On the way home found out about Load sheding were of for about 4 hours only came on at 9.30 .

Why cant Escom have a sms service to let us know when and where . they must know in advance who is going to be cut. (I dont mind paying for sms )

Ok so the new year has kicked off with Tshwane's Website telling us there is "no loadshedding in progress", yet Centurion is operating in 'stone-age mode'.

Wonder where the webmaster is slacking off. Even poweralert is orange, so there really shouldn't be loadshedding, unless that one is wrong as well.

In the real world his job would be on the line for causing this amount of headache to a city, but in SA it is "Shut up or ship out!". The Internet is still a joke here and not meant to be taken seriously.

This doesnt look right...We just had a power cut from 4-6 and on this site it shows from 8:00 till 10:30....Also they dont even specify dates :(

thanks anyways :)

Trouble started when the "NEW" covernment promised ppl new houses...they forgot that new houses needs power as well.. :(

"http://www.eskom.co.za/live/loadshed.php" is a f'ed up site...The info is way out and so are some of the site's internal "links"....can you believe :(

I can only compare it to putting a monkey in a cockpit midair and letting him fly the plane.

Update: My neighbourhood has been "load-shedded" once again - off since 10:45 this morning... Moederloos is powerless to come in here and update himself (as he likes to do)

Will update when power returns!

We seem to be OK here in the Cape

Aaaaggh - no...don't say it. You will awaken the beast! We'll be in darkness within the hour :)
The Beast awoke this morning at about 10.30 am here in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town.
Only 20-30 minutes, but still.

Take into account that the Western Cape may experience more Load Shedding in the months to come. Reactor 2 at Koeberg has already or will be shut down this month for planned maintenance. Apparently for a 3 to 4 month stretch as well!

Saturday I went to watch National Treasure and the lights went off, wasted 30 min standing in the que to get our money back. While in the que the lights came on, we got our money then went to have supper, 15min after ordering the lights went off again, but our food was ready, was so cool, a real candle lit dinner.
But its getting bad now, I think the pro20 will be down as well, those lights use alot of electricity!

So who else is getting gatvol of the sorry state of our electricity?

gatvol?? it's damned unacceptable how it's happening. we're paying for a non-existent service, and it's highly detrimental to business. oh, sure, invest in a genny, but the argument stands that why the hell should you need to in the first place?

-_-

edit (excerpt from online conversation):
<speaker> the fact one so easily says "invest in a gennie" - where it is not really supposed to "pay off for itself" says a lot about what we accept in africa
<speaker> a generator is meant for building sites and camping trips
