Logik 47 vs Sinotec 47

The set will be pretty close to me in most scenarios, probably +- 2m, I also intend to occasionally use it as a PC monitor which means 1-1.5m, which is why FullHD is important to me. It will be used for 40% ps3 streaming content, 40% ps3 gaming, 20% standard tv, and possibly the odd blueray. 47 might actually be too big for my purposes in any case.

Ask then to test with a PC input when you buy. At the native HD resolution and 720P, etc

Ok , now just to throw a spanner in the whole thing , I got a contact for Panasonic plasmas. Will get pricing Monday.

There you go! Now you're on the right track ...

Ok, bought the Philips yesterday from hificorp, thing is, I got it at their website price, which is wrong. Went into the store and the set was priced at R13 999. I showed them their website and after phone calls to the store manager I was allowed to take it!

http://www.hificorporation.co.za/products/detail/philips_tv_42_lcd_42pfl7403_98/ They still havent updated the price, so if you're fast you might be able to do the same.

The screen is incredible, fullhd, 100hz, 4 hdmi, SD DSTV looks amazing - even through the built in tuner. I have played some dvds upscaled by the ps3 and they look awesome as well.

So, it's been pulled. What price was it advertised for?

Ok , so the Panny plasmas are warraty stock , so I'm a bit wary. i'm still waiting on a list of units from my guy. Basically I still get the 1 year , so if anything goes wrong I can still fix it.

What Panasonic plasmas models should I avoid? Which ones do I go for?

OK , looks like the Sino is just getting worse by the day , I've also noticed that the viewing angle is quite a big factor. If I sit right in front of it it looks good , but when I sit on my side couch which is about 20 degrees to the left of my center couch it changes quite a bit.

I think I'm going to return the Sino and get a Sammy Plasma , can't seem to source the B550 anywhere so i guess I'll go for the B430/450. Look , the Sino is not bad , and after playing with it a bit I got the picture pretty good , but I think the plasma would sort my viewing angle issue out? Service wise Sinoprima is very good vs some shocking stories I heard of Samsung , so I'm really in a pickle. But I guess if you buy a quality product service issues won't matter that much? Argh!

Any other recommendations would be appreciated and thanks a million for all the advise so far.

After my LCD affair I am sorry but I feel NO SAMSUNG PRODUCT will ever cross my fence border until Samsung sort out their "Warrantee" system.

So would you recommend going for a LG instead? Seems the Panasonics are hard to come by ;(

Maybe the House&Home one for R12.5K , think it's the PQ30

that sucks man - mine does change slightly on angles, but you wouldn't even notice it IMO, - has great color from all angles, even at angles close to around 170 degrees :wtf:

I know this because I checked for this rubbish specifically when buying it (because that seriously P1$$ed me off with my asus LCD), and it didn't have any of that in store - and neither on my set at home

wtf is going on, seems like sinotec has really gone down the tubes since they started using those cheap china crap panels

Very good find that! Congrats and enjoy!

I just need to clarify here , I phoned Sinoprima and spoke to one of their service reps there , who neither denied nor acknowledged that they were using chinese panels. But if you looks ta it this way , ALL panels come from either Taiwan or Korea so yeah , pinch of salt.

I need to make a decision here as my 7 day return is valid up till today. My gut is telling me to return the Sino and get a decent plasma. My head is telling me maybe give them the benefit of the doubt and see if they come to the party... I really don't know anymore...

Thx for the info , only problem i have is my viewing distance is 3.6m , so it's screaming 47/50 , but I guess 42 isn't bad either. Just got used to the huge screen now (even though it's a bit dissapointing).

Speak to Sinoprima and get the low down from them. If I was You I will take it back today, get a refund or put the replacement on hold until Sinoprima proved that the new one thats coming is better. Then only decide what you want to get. That means a week+ without telly but on the end of the day .......
