Hi guys

Thinking of taking the plunge and getting the Harmony One over the Harmony 300 (much cheaper).

By the looks of a Google, the Harmony One seems like the business, with many review websites rating it one of the best.

Pity about the gloss. But I do like the touch screen and fewer buttons.

I see it's been around since 2008 - any problems with that? Worth waiting?

Your thoughts?

Thanks!

Best universal remote on the planet :) The 900 is the same except it has RF as well ...

Love my Harmony One though ... got it a bit cheaper when I was in Aus

Thanks, pretty much all I needed to know. :D

700 seems to be end of life.

It has RF as well... Meaning how exactly does a Harmony One operate?

I have one of the Harmony remotes, not any in question, but they are excellent and you can finally pack away all your other remotes and let the Harmony solve all your digital entertainment problems :)

Only ****ty thing about these remotes is the web programming interface, slow - and annoyoing.

The "One" is just an IR remote, ie. you need to point it at your equipment.

The 900 (at about twice the price, though) send its signals with radio waves to a base station that would then be set up to point to your equipment ... so, you do not need to point the 900 in any specific direction .... very useful if you maybe have all your equipment in a closet or behind your seats etc. ... also nice that you don't need to keep it pointed at the equipment during a lengthy macro operation ...

I've got the One as well - love it!

Agree with xrapidx on the web interface though ... *especially if you're with Vodacom 3G. I've been left a few occasions where I couldn't anything.

* See how I cleverly threw in my dislike of Vodacom in the TV section?

Glad to have your blessing, mate! :)

Do yours guys' Harmony Ones rattle when you shake them? Something rattling when I shake/use the remote.

It might have a sensor thingy that turns on the LCD when you pick it up... My Harmony 1000 does that.

Bleh. Sounds like the way cheap Chinese toys rattle. If you know what I mean. Hmmm...

Hmmm... well if you turn the remote 360 can you hear it rolling around in the device, or does the rattle come from the same point the hole time. Pretty sure its a sensor.

Yeah, any slight movement gives a rattle. Maybe mine's just more pronounced than others.

Disappointing since there are tons of sensor devices that don't rattle - PS3/Wii remotes, iPhone/smart phones, etc.

Not happy!

Postman - mine never rattled in the beginning, but my ex knock it off and it now has a slight rattle when shaking it around :/ I doubt the rattle should be there.

Take it back!

There are so many reports of a rattle on the net that it seems to be normal...? Need to know if my rattle is slight or severe. I think you are right, maybe I should take it back.
