Logitech Harmony One universal remote - any thoughts, feedback?

The rattle is normal. For some reason they use a lame mechanical sensor to sense movement instead of a nice electronic accelerometer

Ah - that could be an issue then : severity.

Perhaps mine initally was so slight and wasn't expected, that I didn't pick up. Once it was knocked off the couch, I shook it purposely to check.

PS I'm so tempted to join that forum purely to post "my One has a rattle too. Does anyone know what it could be?" and piss people off ...

Sorry PostmanPot, should have mentioned this, but forgot. Mine does not rattle ... But doesn't work either! It worked well for the first two months, but these days I really need to shake the thing around to wake it.

The "One" is just an IR remote, ie. you need to point it at your equipment.

The 900 (at about twice the price, though) send its signals with radio waves to a base station that would then be set up to point to your equipment ... so, you do not need to point the 900 in any specific direction .... very useful if you maybe have all your equipment in a closet or behind your seats etc. ... also nice that you don't need to keep it pointed at the equipment during a lengthy macro operation ...

Do the 900 control a PS3 without a bluetooth adaptor?

Rattle is not too noticeable when using the control normally. A jerk or faster motion makes it rattle though. Bit annoying. Seems it's the norm. Happy with the software so far, testing properly soon. Got TV, AV receiver, DVD player and Mede8er all added so far (Mede8er does get added as an HTPC right?)

Are DSTV decoders able to be added? I guess I would have to find out who the manufacturer of the decoder was before Multichoice rebranded it.

Mede8er - yes - from what I've read... does it work properly? I've been to lazy to redo mine :p
