Im not sure which of the two to choose as the price is both R999.00
They told me the LTE is only 2MB/s, is this true?
Then the wimax 4MB/s would be better rite?

Hi David,

Both are good rock solid services - but obviously the following logic is applicable.

AFAIK, LTE can be ordered in 2,5 & 10 Mbps speeds, not sure why they call this Highspeed, but not being a mobile operator, they play in a different market? But Upload speed is 1/3 of D/L. You own the device after contract. No need for LOS. So should work if you put the modem on the table in study. External directional antenna is also supplied/installed by Neotel

Wimax - Needs 100% LOS!!!!You don't own the CPE. 1,2,4,6 Mbps options. Upload is 2/3 of D/L.

So, if you need more U/L then D/L - Go Wimax
If speed is not too important, but consistency is, then LTE

and if you can't get Wimax go LTE - I would think their coverage on Wimax would be less than on LTE.

I've tested Netflix etc work 100% on 2 Mbps LTE. Live TV I imagine would struggle a bit on LTE, but may be OK on 4 Meg Wimax - I have not tested Wimax or TV

Hopes this helps.

Anyone know if you also get static IP with LTE (as you do with WiMax)

Yes LTE is dynamic IP unfortunately.

Something else to note:
LTE contention 1:25
NeoBroadband WiMax (NOT NEOFLEX) contention 1:10

I thought LTE contention was also 1:10?! This is what the sales lady told me?

The sales lady is talking nonsense :p

Keep in mind though that these are MAXIMUM possible contention ratios, not current contention i.e. the contention may be as low as 1:3 depending on where you are located, Neotel guarantees and manages their bandwidth so that the contention will never go higher than the maximum as mentioned above.

How long does it take for them to install everything at your premises?

Installation is quick, normally within 14 days, sometimes within 5 days.

Its the credit vetting and application that can take a while, especially if all the requested information is not provided upfront and we have to go back to the client for additional information. That's why we make sure we inform you of exactly what is required up front. It's not a lot of information or any insane requests, just has to be done right ;)

hi guys, is is possible to get either of these products in Port Elizabeth?

Hi Mercenary

LTE unfortunately not yet, WiMax there is coverage. PM me your location and required speed and I'll load a feasibility.
