LTE : When will it be available for Android Users

My question was when providers such as Vodacom provide LTE signal/usable bandwidth, for Android devices

They do already, and have for a while.

I only have Huawei LTE devices, but they work fine.

I am sure that an Android LTE device such as the Sony Xperia Tablet Z will also work fine, as will the new Sony phones.

Vodacom LTE is not as fast as they claim, but it does work.

So does Cell C, if you are in the right area. I have not tested the others.

So you think the networks check what you have before they enable LTE?

Lol.

Just make sure you're in a LTE area.

When will the big operators provide LTE to Android clients. Android dominates the market?

I think you're a lil' confused how LTE works and what Android is.

To put it in simple terms. Android is just an Operating System. It's not mobile operators are enabling LTE for specific operating systems. They provide an LTE network and if a device supports LTE (whether it be an Android based device or iOS) then it will have access to the LTE network. If your phone isn't picking up LTE then it's probably because you're either not in an LTE covered area or your phone does not have the required hardware.

Hi. Thanks to all, got the picture and understand.
Would still like to know what Bandwidth's are used by SA cellphone service providers

Remember such sites/base stations can already be congested, did you contact your SP to provision your SIM CARD to make use of LTE, sometimes you will have to replace your sim card it is outdated(something to do with memory but if you have the latest 128 kb you won't have an issue whatsoever)

Also check your SP website and look at their LTE Map

Simple same data bundles that you currently pay are across the board, no special treatment for anyone even if you make use of LTE you pay like everyone else. Alternatively look at afrihost mobile R197 for 10gig of data or go 8ta route R1800 once-off gets you 60gig day/ 60 gig night crawl or giganite with cell ce

Thanks, found out that New Asus Google Nexus 7 3/4G/LTE version comes with 800Mhz + 2 600Mhz including other well used Band but has some others unique to US + a few eastern countries. This device is not compatible with SA.
UK version + other EU countries does not have 800 or 2 600.
800 is the preferred choice for Long distance signal, while 2 600 is preferred Bandwidth.
Analog Tv in short term uses 800 and Sentence controls 2 600 but not used. Fights coming up.

Hi,

You can unlock your phone and make it compatible with any carrier in your country.
